@NTA yeah, i have to say, as bad as aussie performance was in the RWC, i dont think i would have sacked him, it was always going to be a tough ask given other results this year...RA seem convinced it should be an easy fix and not a long term project
I think improving the performance is relatively simple - pick the right players! We had a fucking cakewalk to a QF appearance ffs....
Against the ABs tho? Hmmm....
-
yeah, definitely dropped that ball but i dont think aussie is in a place to be fast and loose...really shouldn't have got rid of rennie, i think the results would have come, i liked how aussie were playing

Rumour going around Joe Schmidt is the new Australian coach.
That would surprise me given they're yet to formally announce their head of performance, to whom the coach would report.
-
@antipodean in fairness...as logical as that it is...sounds about right that RA would do things back to front

Just a rumour going around in some Australian sporting circles.

I was having a chat with Chris Thomson (GM Brumbies) on Tuesday and that's what he told me when I asked about the coaching position.

They announced it a few days ago. Peter Horne. Close ties with... Joe Schmidt.

Final negotiations are still being conducted but an announcement is likely in the next week. That might be why Chris didn't mention his name.

Apparently Eddie's first talk with JRFU was them getting him to tell their recruitment company about the Japan head coach role, same not an interview.
Recruitment company "So, Eddie-sama, what does this position need?"
E " maaaaaate, it really needs some one who knows the Japanese culture. Can fit in. Like saying maaaaaate all the time. Maaaaaate"
RC " good info, what else?"
E " maaaaaate, they need someone who promises the rising sun, maaaaaate, but actually gives them a burning pile of paper wrapped dogshit left on the doormat. Maaaaaate"
RC" and?"
E" they gotta change the goal posts, rant at the media, drop any player that might stand up to them, blow the budget, and then blame it on their employer & entire country"
RC "arigato"
E"you probably need to pay them a shit load to"
RC "maaaaaate" -
roped in for another year and asked to look after the first grade / Dewar Shield team...even convinced myself it wont be that much more work....
-
@Kiwiwomble Oh mate, and now is best time, you think it will be easier less stressful in the coming season
But good on you , it's the like of people like you that keeps our great game going around the world!
And for that reason you and the likes of NTA and others who involved in community game (wherever in world etc) have my appreciation, did it for many years and understand the work/time invoved.
So Thanks ! -

@Machpants between Cameron Clyne and Hamish McLennan, RA has not exactly been a centre of excellence...

Indeed. But with Lions then RWC x 2 coming up, you really gotta hope AR don't fuck this golden goose. Huge opportunities, hopefully not squandered on league players.
