4 tests in Australia that could be embarrassing if we don't find a bowling attack that can compete.
Although both teams will look a bit different in 2026/27I think we need to wrap Jamieson in cotton wool right now
Hasn't he wrapped himself in cotton wool for the last 2 years? He's barely played hasn't her?
So a bit longer won’t be an issue then
Will he know a life outside of cotton wool??

Jamieson has had 2 stress fractures recently takes a long time to come back from.
But you can come back from it.Pat Cummins had a few and has come through after surgery to be virtually injury free over the last 5 years.
Yet stress fractures ruined James Pattinsons career in the end.
Mitch Starc also had stress fracture problems a few years back.
It seems surgery with the steel wire in the spine seems to work the best, using the rest method normally means they fracture again.
Shipley is going through the same thing now. -
Some interesting trivia in this article.

Fair to say that cokehead Dermot Reeve ruined his career. He was odds on to make the England tour in 2008 but from memory we went with Redmond, How, James Marshall and Flynn (not one test century between those 4!) I thought at the time he would have been picked ahead of Redmond and Marshall.
I remember it being one of the great mysteries in domestic cricket as to why he lost his prime years from 2009-2013 and now we know why.
If he hadn't been chucked to the dogs, he most likely would have been given a go in there, especially with some of the guys we had around the scene in thouse 4 years. We were a terrible outfit back then.

That period when Fleming retired and Rossco hadn’t debuted was simply awful. I distinctly remember the only test tons in the team belonging to McCullum and Vettori at 7/8 in the batting line up
-
@MN5 Yeah, a real transition period for us between 2007-2012. Williamson was still in his nappies, Taylor hadn't reached his prime yet, Vettori was our best bat, couldn't find any opening bats, Jesse Ryder constantly getting up to trouble off the field, Chris Martin was our best seamer......I could go on haha.

At his best he was pretty decent. But certainly a let down from the days of Bond leading the attack.
-
@MN5 He was a bit of a one trick pony. He could swing the ball a mile into the right hander/away from the left hander which made him dangerous with the new ball. The problem for him was when the swing disappeared, where he became cannon fodder as he didn't have that extra pace to push guys back, and didn't develop any variations like an off or leg cutter, so he didn't offer a lot in-between the new balls.
Yes, he served us relatively well, but he wouldn't have played anywhere near the amount of tests he did if he wasn't around during such a weak era for us.

Not sure where else to leave this.
I'm a nerd, so did some measuring.
EPOO is about 130x130
Western Springs looks more like 200x200 (assuming it's not the speedway site)
Colin Maiden looks more like 180x180So, much bigger than EPOO - and would be a fantastic cricket ground if they can develop it. It's a 600m walk to the Glen Innes train station
-
The first step is under way, with Auckland Cricket intent on moving away from Eden Park. Those plans include installing a Cravo training facility that features a retractable roof and greenhouse system to cultivate a variation of pitches at Colin Maiden.
Those types of facilities make a big difference. (Especially cool when you take the kids to the outdoor nets, and discover you're having a hit next to a bunch of Black Caps, or White Ferns, or an ND squad.)

Dermot Reeve was one of a long line of failed “next Bothams” if I remember rightly. ( with all due respect to decent players like Andrew Flintoff and Ben Stokes they still never found one )
A fairly controversial figure off the field according to wiki.
( not as much as another FB in Chris Lewis though, crikey )

@nzzp would enable EP to become a rectangle instead of the half-baked solution it is currently.
I don't think it will. This is for the tests and a boutique ground. ODI and T20 will stay at the main oval.
It should replace the outer oval, not the main ground

Yeah, know who Reeve is/was. Not sure the relevance to Marshall, How, Flynn.

Ok.
Well as usual I can’t help in a meaningful way so you might have to go elsewhere.

@booboo Reeve was the CD coach for a couple of years:
Dermot Reeve, the Central Districts' coach, has ended his tenure after two years at the helm in order to be close to his family in Sydney.
"I would like to be with Central Districts, ideally, but for me to fulfill a full-time role with any association will not be possible due to family commitments," the former England allrounder said.
Reeve led Central Districts to the Plunket Shield four-day final in 2008-09 before winning this season's Twenty20 competition, but his association with the side has been dogged by controversy in recent times.
Reports of disharmony between the players and Reeve plagued the early stages of Central's Twenty20 campaign in January. He injured his foot in the same month, which curtailed his involvement with the team as he recuperated in Sydney. After watching his side win the Twenty20 competition, he went back to Australia before returning to New Zealand for Central's final four-day match against Northern Districts in Napier last week.
Reeve was also censured and fined by New Zealand Cricket after accusing Auckland's Ravi Bopara of ball-tampering, after a one-day game in December.

An absolute joke of a performance by Otago in the Super Smash. 30-8 in the 9th over
