No NZ U19 tour this year, but the preparation for next year's NZ U20s begins:
Fifty players have been identified and selected to take part in a week-long Under 19 development camp at NZCIS in Wellington.
The players were selected following New Zealand Schools, New Zealand Barbarians and New Zealand Māori Under 18 campaigns, as well as Provincial Union Under 19 representative matches.
The camp, which starts on 13 November, will place an emphasis on development and preparation for the athletes as they look ahead to the Super Rugby Under 20 competition, from which the New Zealand Under 20s squad will be selected.

Jono Gibbes is the new coach.
Hopefully he'll get some improvements in the performance of the forward pack, which has remained the big weakness.
Former Waikato Rugby Coach and eight-Test All Black Jono Gibbes has been named to lead the programme will be joined by Brad Cooper, Jarrad Hoeata and Craig Dunlea as his assistants.
Dunlea is the scrum coach, so the performance against Aust was on him.
New Zealand Under 20 coaching group confirmed
New Zealand Rugby has today announced the New Zealand Under 20 Coaching group ahead of the 2024 campaign.

After watching the four QF games from Taupō, Gibbes and co will have a good group of players to choose from. As usual, there is plenty of talent in the loose forwards, midfield and outside backs. The key to having more success at the WC will be having the right players in the 1-5 jerseys and the 9/10 combination. There are about 8 players from last year's squad that are available for selection again this year. Some have NZ sevens and SR commitments so aren't playing in the U20 tournament.

SANZAAR has announced the match schedule and venue for the inaugural The Rugby Championship (TRC) Under-20 tournament that will be played in May 2024 on the Sunshine Coast. The Championship will see the up-and-coming stars of Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa rugby do battle.

Rising stars named in New Zealand Under 20 Rugby Championship squad
Thirty one of New Zealand’s rising stars have been named in the New Zealand squad for the inaugural Rugby Championship Under 20 tournament in Australia next month.
Non-Travelling Reserves:

Bit surprised Salmon hasnt been named, think he has been good when he has played, I do know he carried an injury in the U20s (he probably shouldnt have been played in the Blues last game) and hasnt played much club (was only on bench over last weekend and running water in games before) so maybe carrying an injury?
Guess only consolation is, he is still eligible next year.

@taniwharugby Yeah, it would be good to know who wasn't considered due to injury. I would have selected Waisake Salabiau ahead of Frank Vaenuku of the Chiefs wingers but he is injured too.
Patrick Tuifua is obviously ineligible.

It will be hard to guess as some players could play in a number of positions. There will be some certain starters, e.g., those with SR/NPC experience.

@cgrant I am happy that that they haven't picked that many players straight out of school, especially forwards. Only Letiu and Mosese Bason were forwards who were in the NZ Schools team last year. Trying to fast-track the next big thing hasn't always worked in the U20s as they need a year of S&C to develop.
