Mitchell is quite the phenomenon. His first class record was decent but didn't really suggest that he was going to dominate at international level like he has. I never really saw him play before his black caps debut, did anyone see him playing before that and see signs of what was to come?
While Kane is out injured he has a decent claim to being our best bat. I keep expecting him to turn back into a pumpkin but he just keeps performing.
And to think he wouldn't have even got a run if Nicholls hadn't got hurt

Either him or Devon Conway who I reckon just oozes class ( although I will concede Johns son early test record is even better )
With them and KW still going perhaps the glory years haven’t quite gone just yet although both are the wrong side of 30 ( along with our three main seamers )

Conway was at least tearing it up domestically. I was hopeful that he would be a top quality test batsman. My expectations of Mitchell were that he'd be a de Grandhomme level player - a reliable lower order bat and useful bowling option.
Is a 50 average so far enough for you ?

That's not mean as a criticism of Conway! My point is more than Conway was selected off the back of an incredible run of domestic form so I wasn't surprised by his success. Whereas Mitchell came in with a domestic record that suggested he'd be a useful contributor but probably not much more. But instead he's blossomed. Those two plus Kane and Latham are essentially the heart of our batting lineup now.

I know what you meant
Given that Nicholls, Young and Blundell all have their moments things are looking rosy…..for a bit longer at least.

A good summary of where the pace bowling stocks are at present. This backs up what has been discussed recently, but Hesson is more realistic than Wells.

I am not sure someone currently in the system is going to publicly say our options are rubbish even if they think it.

A boxing day test and a 4 test series! I'm stoked. Was there for the 2019 boxing day test so hopefully we can do slightly better next time around (although god knows what our bowling attack will look like so I'm not holding high hopes.
But whatever happens, it's great to see the black caps continuing to get top tier test match ups.

4 tests in Australia that could be embarrassing if we don't find a bowling attack that can compete.
Although both teams will look a bit different in 2026/27I think we need to wrap Jamieson in cotton wool right now
Hasn't he wrapped himself in cotton wool for the last 2 years? He's barley played hasn't he?

Yep He is the sort of bowler who could do well on Australian pitches, has he has the height to change his length on the good batting decks.

Hasn't he wrapped himself in cotton wool for the last 2 years? He's barely played hasn't her?
So a bit longer won’t be an issue then

Will he know a life outside of cotton wool??

Jamieson has had 2 stress fractures recently takes a long time to come back from.
But you can come back from it.Pat Cummins had a few and has come through after surgery to be virtually injury free over the last 5 years.
Yet stress fractures ruined James Pattinsons career in the end.
Mitch Starc also had stress fracture problems a few years back.
It seems surgery with the steel wire in the spine seems to work the best, using the rest method normally means they fracture again.
Shipley is going through the same thing now.
