Raeburn Shield

I was just reading a bit on the website of the World Rugby Museum, and found this little piece about Raeburn Place, the venue of the first men's international rugby match.

Things have changed a little bit now but I believe it is the very same ground now used as Edinburgh Academicals home.
We used to live about 100 metres away and regularly cut through to get to the Botanic Gardens which was the closest big park for exercise. At the time I never knew the significance, it was just the rugby ground down the road. Went back a few years ago and it has a rather flash grandstand/clubrooms now and is pretty much fenced/walled off. -
What legend made that image 😉😁

Maybe with the Ranfurly Shield in pieces, this is the time to make an actual Raeburn Shield?
Just don’t let it anyway near the Hawkes Bay.
i still find it amazing WR have snapped it up...some much more interesting than the proposed new world leagues or plate comps they come up with to add some meaning
we've also see more "upsets" in the past 10 years i feel so the chance it goes off to a tier two team one day seems more likely

Raeburn Shield got a mention in the Rugby Direct Podcast on ZB this week too.
About 49:24 into their latest podcast..

Elliott is a good lad, have had a bit of contact with him and appreciate the Rugby Direct shout out.
Making good progress on worming my way into the subconscious of international rugby fans.
Just shy of 500,000 views on TikTok in the last 28 days too which is helpful 😊

I was pleased to get in the Herald on the day of the Semi Final.
Hopefully just building a familiarity for people feeling it has always been a thing 😁
