Blues 2024

@Steven-Harris I don't blame the Blues then. I don't think their crowd numbers are that bad - they would have one of the highest average crowds in the comp (low bar but still).
-
@KiwiMurph so they should they have by far and away the largest population (of any NZ team anyway).

Of course - but i'm talking about the issue of having big enough crowds to keep playing games at their stadium.

People assume that but it’s not true.
Using the 2019 numbers
Region Population Blues 1.396m Chiefs 1.333m Hurricanes 1.019m Crusaders 0.797m Highlanders 0.337m Chiefs should play away from Hamilton more

I think it would be different if you put those within a half hour or so trip to the ground

This of course includes Counties and Taranaki, who will have a fair portion who actually support the Blues and the Hurricanes...

From the Club Rugby website:
Club Rugby understands that Tawa prop PJ Scheck is moving to the Blues.
The Wellington Lions prop spent time at the Highlanders this year and played one Super Rugby match. He has played 25 matches for the Lions since his debut against Northland two seasons ago.
Wait and see whether this rumour is correct.

@Nogusta The early rumors we had about replacement prop targets were Tevita Mafileo and Finlay Brewis. I guess one of them at least is not coming. I was hoping Ahio might get a go. I think he is underrated and I see real potential in him, he gives me slight Olo Brown vibes.
I really hope we don't lose Josh Beehre. He has been Auckland's best along with Choat. With several teams looking for locks I suspect he will end up somewhere south, unless we go with an extra forward in the squad and one less back. -

Annandale, and Beehre as well?

@frugby already signed Mcwhannel from the Chiefs.
Forgot about him... I guess there is no room in the inn then? Who left, just Tucker?
If another lock has left, they may bring in a third, as playing Robinson and Suafoa there wasn't really satisfactory. -
@Daffy-Jaffy yea thats interesting they went for Sheck over our own local boy Ahio. Must see something in him?
Taavao will also be back at the Blues next year. -
