Excellent game from Thompson, Rakete-Stones and Flanders. Definitely a game won by our forwards. According to the radio commentators McClutchie played with a minor injury; maybe that affected his kicking a bit, but otherwise he had a good game.
For of Plenty, Selby-Rickit was outstanding and - as always - Carter was a handful. Of Plenty have a bigger drop-off when the subs are made than we have. That definitely contributed to our win, too.
Did you not know that the "Real Bay" title is only up for grabs in round-robin games? Just like that Shield you broke last week. I don't make the rules, I just apply them - sorry Hawke's
Well this is the least surprising post of the day.

That Selby-Rickit trick at the ruck has bagged him a lot of metres/tries this season. One foot behind the ball is onside apparently so he waits until the defence fans then marches up the middle.
I thought the law was you couldn't handle the ball if you were part of the ruck? Did that change, or was I always wrong to think that, or were we playing under Of Plenty suburban ground home laws?

I don't know the answer to that - but I am assuming the refs know the laws - big assumption?

@Canes4life one thing you cant deny is the heart the Magpies have in their squad ,down against the Lions last week they crawled their way back , and to come back from 16 points down playing away and then lay on 26 unanswered points is impressive in anybodys book.
Should be a great contest next week -
@Steven-Harris yeah in all seriousness it should be. Iโm sure the Lions wonโt want to be done on home turf by the same team in three weeks. A few guys looked pretty sore so it will be interesting to see who makes the team next week.
-
@Canes4life I just hope a bigger crowd turns up for the SF.
-
@Stargazer yeah hopefully itโs a good day. Have they confirmed the time of it yet?
-
@Canes4life Yep, Saturday at 7.05pm.
-
@Stargazer thatโs good, our lads will need all the time they can get to recover.
-
Watching highlights now.
Can the commentator not yell so much please?
-
Good crowd. Play more in smaller grounds.

Some dubious calls have gone both ways in the 1st half.
I know McMillan is a fan, so I wonder if he is looking at Carter for the Chiefs (assuming at least one wing position is available).
Next year is an olympic year so I guess Carter will stay with the NZ Sevens.

Too easy.
Hawkes looking like they're still in the comedown/hangover from some sort of cocaine-fuelled party.Imagine how much they would have taken BoP to the cleaners had they been completely clear headed.
Yeah - looked like plenty of Blue Powerade and chocolate milk at the half-time break... got the comedown/hangover sorted - came out firing in 2nd half.
Or maybe a wee bit of the hair-of-the-dog?
In any case - good win.
I was cheering for Hawkes, by the way... Mayfair-Primary repreZENT!
