The Magpies win the second Battle of the Bays.

    Stuff the haters.

I don't even care if those that put the boot into use last week are not man enough to publicly acknowledge this victory. The thought of them squiring hiding in the shadows will more than compensate.

By the same token, I am looking forward to reading some acknowledgements of Chase Tiatia after two seasons of "hate".

The bloke is welcome back here anytime.

Had a sinking feeling halfway though the week that this might wind up one of those Circling the Wagons games for the Magpies.

@Donsteppa Chase Tiatia is rocks and diamonds. Definitely more diamonds in this game.

It's a shame that Tiatia didn't react to all the Hawke's fan criticism and return to Tauranga in the right colours...

Yes, Tiatia, I've always rated him, he's diamonds that boy. ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Donsteppa I'll leave @Nepia to craft a reply to this but point out that he has been given credit for good play on the occasion/s when deserved.

You guys are cramming a lot of chips on those shoulders.

The moral police have been off the charts this week. ๐Ÿ˜‰

TBH, I think we won because of it, the team had a bunker mentality.

Excellent game from Thompson, Rakete-Stones and Flanders. Definitely a game won by our forwards. According to the radio commentators McClutchie played with a minor injury; maybe that affected his kicking a bit, but otherwise he had a good game.

For of Plenty, Selby-Rickit was outstanding and - as always - Carter was a handful. Of Plenty have a bigger drop-off when the subs are made than we have. That definitely contributed to our win, too.

BOP weren't in the game in the 2nd half.

Now Wellington will have a chip on their shoulders. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It'll be a chip off. I hope Jamie Wall and that Stuff journalist keep up with their hysterical commenting this week to further the Magpies bunker mentality.

I mean, we have little chance against the mighty Hurricane Lions but I hope we give it a good try. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Argh waking up to this โ€ฆ crap. Donโ€™t think we have lost a home game to HB in since about 2013, so thatโ€™s a bummer.

Well done HB last week was either going to break or unite you. Clearly galvanised in this case

@Bovidae I think any team who has a chance to smack that sorry state of a province they call HB will go into it with a chip on their shoulders.

No wonder their players donโ€™t get picked up by the Canes, clear atttitude problems and no accountability.

I think everyone outside of HB will be wanting the Lions to maul them in the semi. ๐Ÿ˜

They just got lucky we got complacent last week.

Did you not know that the "Real Bay" title is only up for grabs in round-robin games? Just like that Shield you broke last week. I don't make the rules, I just apply them - sorry Hawke's

That Selby-Rickit trick at the ruck has bagged him a lot of metres/tries this season. One foot behind the ball is onside apparently so he waits until the defence fans then marches up the middle.

@KiwiPie The "Real Bay" bragging rights you can have, but we've earned "Bay" back. On aggregate points, we beat you. It's only fair.

I thought the law was you couldn't handle the ball if you were part of the ruck? Did that change, or was I always wrong to think that, or were we playing under Of Plenty suburban ground home laws?

I don't know the answer to that - but I am assuming the refs know the laws - big assumption?

@Canes4life one thing you cant deny is the heart the Magpies have in their squad ,down against the Lions last week they crawled their way back , and to come back from 16 points down playing away and then lay on 26 unanswered points is impressive in anybodys book.
Should be a great contest next week

@Steven-Harris yeah in all seriousness it should be. Iโ€™m sure the Lions wonโ€™t want to be done on home turf by the same team in three weeks. A few guys looked pretty sore so it will be interesting to see who makes the team next week.
