The NRL Season of 2016
-

Really thought Ben Henry and Elijah Taylor would be the stalwarts of the club for the next decade, even share the captaincy as both are smart and articulate players. Instead both suffer knee injuries, one has to retire early while the other is no longer with the club. Hope the best for Benny and his family.

Hayne achieves his dream of playing for the Gold Coast Titans. Signs richest deal in NRL history. Could debut against the Warriors this Sunday (despite the deadline being June 30). Konrad Hurrell is also allowed to play the Warriors this Sunday (despite the belief that he wouldn't be allowed to play the Warriors during this regular season).

No doubt Hayne tried to sign with The Sharks first, then the Storm, then the Cowboys then.... -

who misses out? Their outside backs are pretty good.

That's a massive win for the GC. Imagine if they had signed DCE? They wouldn't have those nifty halves, or Hayne. And they got Peats as well! They're having a good season, and i have a soft spot for them.

Also, haha fuck you Parramatta!
-

Gold Coast have gone from potential wooden spooners to the darkhorse to win the comp in 2016. All thanks to not signing DCE, plus salary cap issues at Souths and Parramatta, and Konrad Hurrell acting like a jerk online.

-

yep, it's quite the turnaround.

They've got big forwards, nippy halves and hooker, and pace out wide. Add in a motivated Hurrell being a handful in the centres, a good coach in Henry, and they are looking good.

In other news, did you see Frizell get banned for touching the ref as he ran past him. The ref stood right in his way to blow the penalty, Frizell stands up, touches the guy as he runs past, and bang! have a week son. pathetic
-

NRL is sending mixed messages to the players regarding the refs. They want the refs to be "matey" with the players but the players can't get within a centimetre of the refs. The officiating is in a lot of trouble on several different fronts this season. Despite that the games have been great.

-

Jarryd Hayne to play the Warriors this Sunday. Aussie media to go into a hyper-fap storm for next few days.

TBF, he was likely to end up at the Titans without acting like a jerk online.

The fates have aligned for them, hey're going to put us to the sword.
-

every time. every fucking time.

If there is a team with a reason to play given what happened the week before, you can almost guarantee they have the Warriors.
-

Away. -

I thought it had always been his dream to play for the Tennessee Titans but he just got confused when searching Google Maps for directions to meet the GM.
-

Did you mean to post that in the Hurricanes thread..
-

Aren't they the ones who fade in the run-in to finish ninth?
-

They get Hayne and we lose Luke for a month due to injury.

Roache has been named starter at hooker but if Cappy is a decent-enough coach he'll move Leuluai to hooker, Lolohea to stand-off, Fusitua to fullback and Ayshford to centre.
-

that's a big if.

In other news, time for Benji to either give it away, or go play Super League, he's done as an NRL halfback
-

Ennis has called it a career and he's still going alright so yeah, Bunji needs to realise it's over (or he should have taken that Dragons offer when it was available).

Has anyone came back from a layoff like Hayne's all guns blazing? Guys like SBW and Burgess came back after Union stints but had a preseason and structured rentry. This is a very different scenario - surely he won't be close to his best until next season.
