Crows are feeling very cheated
Seems pretty accepted that it didn’t hit the post. I kind of think the ump's not calling that unless it did clip the post. Am interested in what the Swans players reckon if that's been reported.
Crows CEO giving it both barrels though.
Shame as a couple of those results we needed above went our way.

Home and away done and dusted
Collingwood had the minor premiership wrapped up by quarter time on Friday, as Essendon capped off a dogshit 2nd half of the year by getting pasted.
Brisbane remained 2nd by beating the Saints despite kicking 18 behinds
The Bulldogs got themselves to 8th for 24 hours by beating the Cats
Port and Melbourne won to stay 3rd and 4th respectively.
And thus it came down to the last game of the season. Carlton showed up long enough to get Curnow the Coleman, then went home, allowing GWS to beat them pretty comprehensively. At one point late in the last the Giants had actually got themselves to 6th and a home final, but a couple of late Carlton goals pushed them back to 7thNow everyone gets a week off before finals.

Daniel Rich announced his retirement yesterday. Genuinely top club man. Dropped himself to the twos this year so the coach didn't have to.
I'm going to miss the players on the mark handballing to Daniel on the run, who then smacks a left footer 60m for a goal.

In Rd 12 this year, Carlton were 14th and GWS were 15th, now both are playing prelims
Carlton should have lost to Melbourne but were saved by some awful Demons kicking. I hope Brisbane beat them by 30 goals. If we lose to them in a prelim at the gabba I'm moving to the Suns
GWS ran Port to death, fuck they are fast. They will give Collingwood all sorts of problems but the Pies should be too good.

Fuck off Carlton!!!

Nervy game when we got fucking pumped early.
But the last 3 quarters the lions were all o er them and probably should have won by more -
that was two absolutely cracking games of football
Friday night was a war, just two teams hard at it. Pressure was off the scale
Saturday night Carlton flew out of the blocks and i thought we were cooked. But we showed what we hadn't the past few years, the ability to regain the innitiative when the other team has a roll on. Coleman with a kicking masterclass, Harris Andrews a rock down back. And in the end we tore them apart. Credit to the Blues they kept coming to keep the score close, but the last 3 quarters the Lions were the better sideAnd so to a GF against the Pies on a ground we don't do too well at. Saturday will be fucking nervy

Ah the Brownlow. Every year the same thing.
This year Lachie Neale wins it because he's the best player in a team that finished 2nd, and played lots of games. And the salt, sand and tears from Victoria are delicious.
It's a midfielders medal you clowns. The guy who gets heaps and heaps of it, especially from clearances, is going to poll the votes off the umps every week. It's the same every year. It was the same last year where Cripps won it despite playing in a team that came 9th. It'll be the same next year.
Forwards kicking bags doesn't matter, and hasn't for as long as i have been watching.

the other news is North are getting 3 additional first-round draft picks (1 this year and 2 next year) and a couple of extra rookie spots, because they suck.
Not sure how i feel about it TBH. North need some help, but there are a lot of clubs that are just on the treadmill that probably do as well. Free Agency really works for some teams, but not others. Climbing the ladder is fucking tough. The Lions did it, but we nailed the draft and the trades year after year to do it. And then we got good enough people wanted to come. That's the problem. Players will only go to you if you are already good, or you regularly play in front of huge crowds at the 'G
North are neither of these

Brownlow result is farcical but as you say M4L it's designed to provide that result each year.
You can see it from a few angles. Dally M is much more accurate but also much less fun. So why don't we just accept that this is all just a dumb game and lean in to the madness of it all? It's much better that way IMO.
Lachie Neale wasn't the best player this year. He wasn't even in the top 10. But that's not what the Brownlow is, so get over it and have a laugh.
-
I watched the Swans final home and away game and Errol was on fire. 40+ possessions, a couple of goals - but didn’t get the 3 votes.
For me Neale was consistent - so best, nah. Fairest, perhaps. Consistent, yep.

yeah....more than a few comments on the swans forums along these lines

that's exactly it. Lachie Neale was good to great every week. Got heaps of ball. And thus won votes. I watch every Lions game, did i think he would win it? No. But am i really surprised? Also no.
Dunkly, Cameron, Andrews, 2nd half of the year McCluggage, fuck even Cam Rayner at points all contributed heavily to our season, but polled fuck all. Contested ball beasts win Brownlow votesRemember the first couple of rounds where Jeremy Cameron was the best player in the comp? Stacks of ball, kicking bags. Did he even get a BOG? No, because he's not in the midfield.
