    Both 2-year extensions.

    Announcements for replacements for Retallick and Sowakula will be of more interest.

    There are plenty of other players who were off-contract this year too, many likely starters.

    @Bovidae What do you reckon? Has Thompson already surpassed Slater or not? I don't think Thompson will be happy to stay no. 3 in the hooker pecking order for much longer.

    @Stargazer I would hope so but I'm not the coach. I've never seen any contract info for either Thompson or Slater so I've no idea whether they are signed or not.

    Stevenson is definitely off-contract, and based on previous media releases so are Jacobson, Ah Kuoi, Boshier, Tupaea and ENS.

    @Bovidae That wasn't my question. Who do you think is the second and who is the third hooker at the Chiefs out of Thompson and Slater?

    I answered that question in my first sentence. Thompson is 2 and Slater is 3. That's how it ended up in the playoffs but McMillan has often rotated them during the season.

    @Bovidae

    Tupaea completes the Gallagher Chiefs midfield alongside fellow All Black Anton Lienert-Brown, Rameka Poihipi, Gideon Wrampling and rookie Daniel Rona.

    Midfield is complete.

    ALB might be close to not even starting for the Chiefs.

    @Bovidae Good to see him re-signed, but how hard is it to mention for how many season he's been signed? These comms people really don't understand what fans want to know!

    @Stargazer Agreed. I re-read the article thinking I had missed that important info, but no. Hopefully they amend the media release.

    By the way, in that text is also the info that Narawa is in the 2024 squad. Narawa is one of the players of whom the contract duration was never published.

    @Yeetyaah

    There will be a few positions to fill for the confirmed departing players:

    • Prop (Moli)
    • Lock (Retallick, McWhannell)
    • Loose forward (Sowakula)

    Also others might have only been on a 1 yr contract. Everything has gone quiet in the last few weeks.

    If Ta'avao is going back to the Blues two new TH props are needed to replace him and Moli. A fit Reuben O'Neill might mean he is back, and then???

    https://www.chiefs.co.nz/news-item/shaun-stevenson-secured-by-the-gallagher-chiefs

    Shaun Stevenson has put pen to paper on a new contract which will see him remain with New Zealand Rugby, the Gallagher Chiefs in DHL Super Rugby Pacific and North Harbour in the Bunnings Warehouse NPC until 2025.

    @Yeetyaah Great news, even if it's just for one year.
