@Stargazer do you have a list that shows those that are signed up for next year?
-
@Canes4life I have all sorts of lists, but they're in a format that I cannot post here without it looking like an unreadable mess.
The players that I mentioned as possibilities are players for which the contract duration was never published, so I don't actually know whether they're off-contract or I do know for sure that they are. Of other players I do know that they're contracted for 2024.
-
@Stargazer There's also this page but I feel like there are more players signed up than what are stated here. I.e. Higgins is signed for 2024.
Update: it states the length of contract for each player in the link below.
-
@Canes4life Jules definitely one of them, not sure who the other one will be tho
-
The Canes players with contract extensions are as follows, so won't be any of them.
Tyrel Lomax: 2026
Xavier Numia: 2025
Asafo Aumua: 2025
Isaia Walker-Leawere: 2025
Du Plessis Kirifi: 2025
Devan Flanders: 2024
Peter Lakai: 2025
TJ Perenara: 2025
Bailyn Sullivan: 2024
Billy Proctor: 2025
Ruben Love: 2025
Harry Godfrey: 2025
Riley Higgins: 2024
Josh Moorby: 2024
Jordie Barrett: 2025
Aiden Morgan: 2024
Ardie Savea: 2025I'm picking it's out of the following players:
Pasilio Tosi - the signing of Lauaki will likely push him out but he's not a high profile signing which the article states.
Tevita Mafileo - unlikely considering he's pretty settled at the Canes and is building a nice front row partnership with Lomax.
Brayden Iose - he is high profile enough IMO, and it wouldn't be the worst move for Brayden considering he's competing with Flanders and Lakai for the 8 position.
TK Howden - I don't consider TK a high profile player yet. But because he's competing with Shields and Delany for that 6 jersey, he may decide to leave.
Peter Umaga-Jensen - likely because Tana is his uncle, and he's competing with Higgins, Barrett, Proctor and Sullivan for regular mins.
Salesi Rayasi - likely due to the Canes not wanting his services anymore.
Kini Naholo - unlikely. He cemented his spot last year at the Canes. Would be a big call if he decided to move on. -

-
@frugby you can still make the ABs playing for Moana though right? If it ends up being PUJ I would be surprised, taking into consideration that a move south to the Highlanders to join his bro instead, would be more appealing.
That family connection with Tana and more playing minutes could be a huge factor though. And who knows, maybe the Highlanders already played their cards and didn't have space for PUJ.
Another factor is that with Moana losing Aumua to the Crusaders, they would have gone hard for a quality centre like Peter.

What do you think are the chances that Bailyn Sullivan has secured an early release as he might be 5th in the midfield pecking order (If PUJ stayed)?
-
@Canes4life makes sense if it were Peter, at the end of the day he needs game time!
got a feeling might be Tosi, TK Howden or Rayasi or maybe even Alex Fidow maybe? we shall see, maybe uncle George might know something ?
-
@BerhamporeNinja won’t be Alex Fidow, he’s wasn’t a contracted Hurricane last year.

In the article from Club Rugby NZ below, they understand that two high profile Hurricanes players are signing with Moana Pasifika for next season. One is likely to be Julian Savea, anyone have any leads on who the other might be?
Rayasi would make the most sense. I've been surprised that he stayed with Auckland in the NPC despite being at the Hurricanes. MP would mean he lives in one location all year
