Shimada played for Clive in the Maddison Trophy and for the HB Development Team v Poverty Bay on August 5.
Forecast for Sunday is occasional rain and 17 degrees.

Looking at that team it is cringeworthy knowing that the best openside flanker in club rugby bar none this season is running around a rugby league field this weekend. And I'll be keeping my thoughts to myself about two of the three debutants. One must assume the winner of the man of the match award and scorer of two tries, including the very late winner, against Waikato is injured. Other than that I am more than confident of a decent result come Sunday although the bench does not have quite the strength that the one on Wednesday night did.

He played LH prop for Hastings Boys'. He only changed to hooker after he left school.
I seriously dislike the fact that the hooker from the development team is named as reserve hooker. Is Devery injured, or this a knee-jerk to the Japanese RFU with whom we apparently have a non-disclosed agreement (like many PUs), because I really don't see the need for moving KKS to reserve LH prop. I'm not convinced that - even at the end of stormweek - Tim Farrell couldn't play another 30 minutes or so. Or alternatively, Joel Hintz 30 more minutes at TH, so Pouri didn't have to be moved.
Not sure why Wye is preferred over McLeod, but some Aucklanders on the Fern have said he's talented, so I guess we'll find out. He's pretty green, but so are a few others.
I hope Stacey Ili will join the squad soon, because I really don't like our limited midfield options.
This game has banana skin written all over it. I still remember last year's farce.

Superb response from Otago 7-7

McClutchie is having a good game too, calming things down when they're going a bit helter skelter.

@Nepia Magpies are getting such quick ball its too hard to defend especially during this 10 minute YC
Really dumb play from Finn Hurley kicking the ball out , your better off taking a breath behind your posts and drop kicking deep and backing your defence
Its the Fakatava ,McClutchie and Flanders show at the minute
Can see a blow out to the pies in the 2nd half @Nepia although i know you hate my predictions
