Way too much scramble for us. First up tackles being missed. Lineout looking shaky. Attack loses structure after one phase.

@Steven-Harris said in Northland v Taranaki:

Penalty try all day and a YC

That was about as obvious as it can be. A 3-on-1 overlap.

Both teams are letting each other off with handling errors.

Christ this is like deja-vu, I was at Pukekua Park last year, Naki looked like they would run away with it, but that's all they did, looked like it but didn't finish anything!

Attack 353metres gained Taranaki vs 86 Northland. Hmmm.

@Steven-Harris After the conversion you could hear the ref talking to the TMO. If that was about the try and a possible knock-on, it would be really good if we could hear their conversation. It looked like a knock-on, but if different camera angles showed it wasn't, it would be good to actually hear the TMO say that. Now, indeed, it just looks like bad officiating.

    Should have reviewed at least

@kev It will have been reviewed by the TMO while the conversion was being taken. They can still disallow a try after the conversion nowadays.

He slapped his hand on the ball. They can’t have looked at it?

Does Northland have a better option for the wing than Brady Rush?

Sums Northland up. They defend their line for 20 odd phases and finally get the turnover and then Hawkins clears to 5 metres out and Taranaki score anyway.

That was awful... hard to see us winning a game this year on that evidence. Whatever progress we had made last year in terms of becoming a side that opposition teams had to respect seems to have evaporated.

    Depressing really.

@KiwiMurph to be fair to Hawkins, the time the half took to pass it didn't help any, was so slow.

Gotta say that 1st 40 was one of the most lacklustre performances we have put out, flat and devoid of energy.

A few rough calls from the officials exaggerate our issues too.
