The difference in quality between the AFC and NFC QBs is insane.
AFC has Mahommes, Allen, Burrow, Lamar, Herbert, Lawrence, Rodgers etc
NFC has Jalen Hurts and....old Matt Stafford? Big question marks everywhere. I'm hopeful for Brock Purdy but he could easily max out as a Jimmy G middle of the road QB.
Huge year for Brock. He needs to avoid the sophomore slump, and hopefully show can throw it down the field. I remember him showing ability last season with throws down field
Agreed. He also needs to demonstrate he can play a full season healthy though I think part of that is on Shanahan as his QBs are always getting hurt.
He needs O line protection

It's kind of amazing that Trey Lance is on the verge of a historic bust (they traded three firsts for him!) but it basically doesn't matter since they drafted Purdy and already had an amazingly talented roster. Kind of reminds me of the Ryan Leaf pick - a disaster pick but Bobby Beathard's achievements make you forget that he made that call (traded up for him too)

Sean Payton is an arrogant prick but its refreshing to hear a coach talk so candidly to the press.
Payton destroying last year's Broncos regime
One for you @mariner4life
It might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL,” Payton told Bell. “That’s how bad it was.” Payton made it clear that “everybody’s got a little stink on their hands,” for what happened last year, even if most of the stench came from Hackett. “There’s 20 dirty hands, for what was allowed, tolerated in the fricking training rooms, the meeting rooms,” Payton said, an apparent reference to Hackett allowing Wilson’s entourage to have an active presence in the facility. “The offense. I don’t know Hackett. A lot of people had dirt on their hands. It wasn’t just Russell [Wilson]. He didn’t just flip. He still has it. This B.S. that he hit a wall? Shoot, they couldn’t get a play in. They were 29th in the league in pre-snap penalties on both sides of the ball.” “It doesn’t happen often where an NFL team or organization gets embarrassed,” Payton told Bell. “And that happened here. Part of it was their own fault, relative to spending so much fucking time trying to win the offseason — the P.R., the pomp and circumstance, marching people around and all this stuff.”

yeah i read it, and i am a little unsure how to take it
last year was so obviously a dumpster fire, and you could see how bad the coaching was
but this feels like someone laying the platform for some excuses later in the year when we are 3rd in teh Division and scratching towards a .500 record.

@canefan will be interesting to see how he goes. Fascinating season coming up
He's basically auditioning for a future HC job. If he can sort out Washington that will be a major feather in his cap

Good for him, good for the franchise and the new owner if it happens
Hopefully a better name will help😀

It will be interesting if they change the name. Make a clean break with the previous owner

They need to change the name - Commanders sucks
I like Avengers. Disney would love it too 😉

It's only preseason but jeez Trey Lance looked bad for the 49ers yesterday. Don't let the stats fool you - he was poor. His TD pass was a dropped interception that ricocheted to a 49er standing 5 yards away.
I'd say the 49ers are stuck with Lance as he is relatively expensive so it's going to be very hard to trade him but at best he's looking like the 3rd QB on the depth chart.
He may yet resurrect his career in a few years on a different team if he can string some starts together (ala Geno Smith) but as a 49er he is going nowhere - he actually looks a poor fit for the Shanahan offense from a skillset point of view too - he has poor footwork and really struggles to throw on time in a timing based offense.

What a bust, they better hope that Purdy ends up being a decent starter because they gave up a bit to get Lance. The only consolation is that to date, none of the QBs picked lower than him (Fields, Jones) appear to be slam dunk long term starters. But both have potential and are already better than Trey

They traded up to get him. Real Mitch Trubisky areas.
QB economics are broken. You kind of have to take a punt and hope it just works. But yeah, looks worse and worse in hindsight

The only QB who looks like a definite keeper right now is Lawrence. The jury is still out with Fields and Jones. Oh to hop back in the Delorean, take Lance's pick and use it to buy other position players and take Purdy late

It's one thing to take a QB that busts, it's another to trade up for said bust QB. The Lance pick didn't make much sense at the time and looks even worse now.
haha, at least you're not the Texans!
