<p>That's actually not true he tested positive once and then got a doctor to write him a back dated prescription for a topical cream to cover it up. The UCI of course accepted it.</p>

<p>If your interested in the story I highly recommend watching "Stop at Nothing, the Lance Armstrong story" its on netflix and is a good watch.</p>

<p>Sounds like the IOC are going to ban the Russian team within the next 24 hours. Good. Fuck Putin and Russia.</p>

<p>I'm not at all surprised with this decision.  The IOC is spineless and Coe is full of hot air.  :(</p>
    <p> </p>
<p>Correction: I should say Bach.  Coe can still redeem himself.</p>

<p>I have to imagine that after the IOC awarded the Winter Olympics to fucking Sochi, Putin has all the information he needs to blackmail them too. Giant sports organisations like the IOC are probably shitting themselves after what happened to FIFA.</p>

The mood on Brazil seems pretty grumpy generally about the corrupt Olympic movement.<br><br>
I wonder if Russian athletes will be the target of pissed off crowds. Expect some jeering?<br><br>
    Still, pretty weak though....,

Coe (who I still think is dodgy having been in bed with Diack all these years) at least, as head of the IAAF, stood up and banned Russia from all the athletics. </p>

    Icarus

Hell of a documentary - (it's on netflix)

    If you've got the time:

    Doco first though

Would welcome any analysis that refutes what Bryan Fogel has presented to us.

Not good folks - running out of things to believe in...

I'll second this. Engrossing. Makes you think that top level athletics is riddled with drugs, which is probably because top level athletics is almost certainly riddled with drugs.

Link worth a read as well.

I somehow opened this thread on the first page and forgot how old it was. The statement from Russia after allegations came out is quite funny
    "These allegations are unfounded"
    Yep "unfounded"

@siam That was an awesome listen. I loved the documentary as well, but the broader discussion about PEDs and cheating in sports in general was fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

China ‘compulsorily doped’ athletes in 1980s and 90s, claims whistleblower

A former doctor for the Chinese Olympic team has revealed that more than 10,000 of the country’s athletes were involved in a systematic doping programme across all sports – and that every one of China’s medals in major tournaments in the 1980s and 90s came from performance‑enhancing drugs.

and so, a couple of years later, we are back here again.

Russia are banned from the Olympics. Not the athletes, just the Country. No anthems, no flags, just the athletes.

I don't get that at all to be honest. Either the athletes are clean, and the ban is a joke, or the athletes are dirty because, you know, state doping, and shouldn't be there either.

I find myself having very little time for anti-doping organisations. The cause they supposedly represent? yes, great. The organisations themselves? Just another large corrupt sporting organisation.
