Like all the losers so far today we've had more than enough chances to make it close / come away with a surprise victory but we've blown it every time
You'd think we were a man down ffs
France 38 - 14 Wales
59 mins -
Were not even using the overlap ffs
-
France down to 13 and we still can't break them down
-
Unbelievably inept tactically from Wales
Did not use the man (men) advantage
France were superb if ill-disciplined
France 43 - 19 Wales
Full time -
I couldn't find the tournament rules for the 2023 U20 tournament (if anyone has a link, I'd much appreciate it if you post it), but this is from the 2019 U20 tournament rules, which seem to apply now, as well:
So it really doesn't have anything to do with helping SA qualify for the 1st-4th place semis. I agree this way of seeding teams produces crazy results.

@taniwharugby said in 2023 World Rugby U20 Championship:
@mikedogz what a stupid system...reads like we expect hosts SA to qualify, but they didn't so we will find a way for them to, any other comp would have them 6th
SA was trailing Argentina at HT and late into the game so were out. Georgia would have made the SFs instead.
WR continues to use this 3 Pool system, e.g., the women's sevens circuit.

If they persist with a 12 team tournament, have 4 pools of 3 teams. Top 2 teams go to a quarter final and the bottom ranked teams play off for 9-12. Everyone guaranteed 3 games and you don’t have this silly situation.

@taniwharugby you have time to delete this... I'm seeing comments like yours on FB as well. I'd be more concerned about the NZ side than SA getting into the semi finals
