Ok I have a smile. posters saying the crowd looks terrible on tv, you realise you are the reason that crowds look no good on tv, while sitting at home watching the game? But it's the world we live in most of us can't be buggered getting off our arse and going to things.
For me it's a reflection on the stadium. It's a cold, windy shithole in the middle of nowhere. If they built a purpose built stadium in the middle of Civic I'd go.
-
@canefan I doubt they make anything from the sales (although if they do, might explain why things are often priced higher than they should be) but the stands would have to pay to be in the stadium with the captive audience (which is where some probably dont try hard to provide quality product at competitive pricing)

this is probably over kill....but its the football off season and Wimbledon will have done well over 30 social media posts this week
3 new signings all get a couple of different ones, interviews etc
new kit launch gets a few
count down too and announcement of the fixtures for next season
a few just about hospitality packages that are availableand several tracking our approach to and reaching 5k season tickets sold (range from 90-550 pound)
split the difference and say average of 300 pound thats 1.5M in the door 2 months before the season starts and theyve used it to build excitement for next year
-
It's not difficult, but far too many do a better job of making it look like Chinese Maths than actually doing the job

1997 called, we'll do just fine
Sam Davies is very much part of the problem
World accolade to can't get in the Wales team but still wants top dollar
That's not how it works mate

This lag time is when NZ rugby really needs to up the engagement. Lets get Super Rugby stats reviews, transfer news and rumours, and projections for the test season based on stats and video analysis.
Get a fantasy competition or something hyped. Engage the fans every day.

is there even a super rugby app? where they do live score updates etc? the AFL app is awesome and is often the cause for me to check out games i wouldnt normally watch

They probably should just licence the Tribe app, no point reinventing the wheel.

something would be better than nothing, although i never thought the tribe one was that good
I have EFL, NHL and AFl apps and all are great, everything on them to keep people engaged, news, stats, rumours, club shops etc on top of the live scoring, the AFl even keeps injury lists like this

Tribe is awesome, it's how I keep up with all teams I'm interested in. But it looks like you want way more than what I want from an app (I was responding to the live score updates in your post, I didn't realise the etc would be so extensive. )
-
@Nepia as i say, something "offical" would be better than nothing but i would think live scoring is the minimum we should expect from a premier sporting comp
Tribe is fine, it does that minimum level of schedule/score/results but across pretty much every sport...doesn't really strengthen the super rugby brand, im probably not explaining it well. maybe thats why there isn't a super rugby app...they know tribe is out there and thats fine...i just know if im looking for an AFL score i check the AFL app...same with NHL or EFL..rather than looking on tribe...and i guess thats the opportunity for these comps to catch my eye with a headline...or some new merch

NFL play a 4 month regular season, a month of playoffs, but have 12 month media and engagement. It's not the biggest sports league in the world for no reason -- they nail the fan engagement, support tribalism, and it's apex sport. Fantastic to watch.
By comparison, the fan engagement in Super is woeful. Actually, it's across all Rugby. Where's your engagement as an AB fan? It's just scripted press conferences with sycophantic media, no analysis of note, and a lowest common denominator approach.
-
@Kiwiwomble ha, when I cant watch rugby, I tend to just come here for score updates (although you always have to ask for them as most people just comment on the game)
But I'd like something that did provide livescoring, additionally, you could click on a team/player and it'd bring up stat options, and ideally, it would allow you to see say Sam Whitelocks career stats, but also his AB stats, his super stats and his NPC stats
But I know I'm pissing in the wind.

My suggestion would be they just licence the Tribe guys to do what they do - but in a Super Rugby branded app shell if it suits, then they can also have the franchises provide some of the other info like injuries etc. I have more faith in the Tribe guys to do something competent than anyone involved in any of the franchises, unions etc.
Personally, I guess I'm opposite to you in that I like that everything I want to look for is in the one app, so prefer Tribe to individual apps by sport/team.

@taniwharugby thats wy i find the AFL one so good, does all that, love the worm for game progress so you can see the back and forth, stats for team and players, links to higlights after the game
@Nepia i guess thats the point, its not done by the individual teams...the competition organisation runs this stuff normally unlike super rugby where its individual parties trying to agree on how things should be done
thinking its either going to be just use something thats already out there or get the intern at each of the franchises to slap something together is exactly how amature a lot of super rugby is...no...we pay a professional company to build and run an app with everything that all the different types of fan (hard core, casual, nerdy, new) could want...thats what most premier sporting comps in the world would do

That's what I'm suggesting they do with the Tribe guys (not sure if they're professional company but they're good to run an app with multiple sports at all levels (schools to pros) but as we all know the issue would obviously be getting the info needed.

@Kiwiwomble said in The Current State of Rugby:
you got shares in Tribe or something
Haha, nope, I just use the app all the time - it's the most convenient sports app for me. Not sure how I coped before I had it actually.
