Dermie reckons the top 7 are settled. They won’t finish in the current order by season end but will all feature in the finals.

So that’s the Pies, Dees, Saints, Lions, Port, Cats, Dogs.

Then he reckons 5 teams will fight it out for the final spot - Blues, Freo, Bombers, Crows, Swans. He was pretty down on the Swans even being in this bunch.

three teams in this league absolutely suck, and are really distorting the ladder.

Collingwood are a game clear at the top after strolling past the Giants
Melbourne and Port filled their boots against the reserve grade sides
Brisbane took an awfully long time to get past the Bombers
The Tigers aren't dead just yet (though Geelong had a lot out)
Adelaide punt Carlton out of the 8, and show up St Kilda at the same time
Um, serious alarm bells in Sydney now. Losing at home to the previously ordinary Freo is huge

yeah okay what the actual fuck AFL? This comp is all over the shop

Port beating Melbourne isn't a huge upset, but the way it happened was weird
The basketcase, coach-less North losing to Sydney because they had too many interchanges, and the spot the FK was paid was inside the 50m is the weirdest end to a game i can remember
Remember last week when Adelaide were good?
The Tigers implode to let the Bombers beat them for the first time in a decade or some shit
I think we can all agree that Hawthorn suck. So how the fuck did they beat West Coast by 120 points?
    Lol at Carlton

That North v Seans finish was bizarre. North should live had a free kick just prior to that whole thing for a clear high shot.

I hate the Swans and Longmire is the whingiest coach in the AFL.

@mariner4life @Kiwiwomble you’re kidding yourselves. Bazza was an amateur trained boxer. I used to see him down at St Kilda training doing his boxing. That’s no love tap coming from him. McGuire was one of our toughest hombres.

And confirmed that Hardwick is goneski. Heard from a reliable source that it’s been a likely scenario that he wouldn’t finish the season but a few things happened recently to bring it on.

    Well done Dimma ,

Took over the tigers when they were a rabble, described as the worst team since Fitzroy,

had to rebuild the list during the compromised draft,

Then after a 37 year drought , won 3 premierships , not even Richmond supporters saw that coming ,

Technically their second best ever coach after tommy hafey .

    So Hardwick goes, incredible.

He was half sacked when Richmond kept coming 9th. Got retained, changed the assistants, and suddenly Richmond were the dominant team in the league. Three flags is an awesome return.

If i could go all Bruce McIvaney for a second
You just feel it all went wrong when he did the dirty on his missus don't you?

@mariner4life I don’t think Hardwick actually ever finished 9th , that was the coaches before . Frawley and plough. But the jokes hang around. He got the team to the point where they kept making finals , but kept going out in straight sets. 3 years in a row . Then in 2016 with heaps of injuries they missed finals altogether.

That’s when they had the review and stuck with him .

Year later they win the flag .

Not sure about the affair , gossip pages love to point at that . But you would need to ask the players if it had an effect . Not many dynasties seem to go past 3.

His close mate Clarkson talks about staying at hawks too long , I think there might be a bit of that in his decision, knowing it’s over .

It's difficult to not think about keeping Leppitsch.

@kiwiinmelb came in 2010 after the Tigers finished 15th (second last) in 2009. His first 3 seasons - 15th, 12th 12th. Then he made the 8 the next 3 seasons.

Then it all fell off a cliff in 2016 when they didn’t make the finals (finished 13th) and there was a big review and the faithful were calling for his head. They stayed true and they got in better coaches around him and made some front office changes. Then one of the great turnarounds in 2017 to win the flag. Then the rest is history winning two more in 19 and 20.
