Manawatu won second half 24-17.
Magpie reps that played - Paoraian Manuel-Harman, Frank Lochore, Josh Gimblett, Kienan Higgins, Tim Farrell, Sam Smith. Josh Kaifa was there but didn't play. Tiaki Fabish was on the sideline, just returned from Spain.
Hunter Morrison, Cooper Flanders and Tom Allen all played and now head off to the NZU20 camp. -
@Number-10 Thanks for the updates!
So we scored all 24 points in the first half and nothing in the second? And Manawatū the opposite? Did the more experienced players play the first half, and the younsters or club players the 2nd? I know these games don't see much for the NPC, but I'd still like them to do better. Well, I guess it's better than the first game ...
Edit: reading @Higgins' comments, the 24 - 17 wasn't the full time score but only the score in the second half. So what was the full time score?

I recorded the scoring as follows
3 Mins 07 - 00 HB Converted Try
13 Mins 12 - 00 HB Unconverted Try
16 Mins 19 - 00 HB Rollingish Maul Converted Try (might have been about 15 metres in from the left hand corner from memory)
27 Mins 26 - 00 HB Lineout Drive Converted Try in the right hand corner
44 Mins 31 - 00 HB Try from solo slightly left of centrefield break and feeding supporting player to score out wide on the left
50 Mins 31 - 07 'Poo converted try about ten metres to the right of the posts from a longish range regathered grubber
55 Mins 36 - 07 Can't remember what happened but a HB try over in the left hand corner
63 Mins 36 - 12 'Poo try from a scrambly maul play 5 metres in from right hand corner
70 Mins 36 -19 'Poo try after a messy lineout from a penalty 10 metres in from right hand corner
76 Mins 43 - 19 HB converted breakout try (albeit with a slight hint of a double movement) 5 metres in from right hand corner
39+ Mins 43 - 24 'Poo try five metres to the right of the posts after collecting a long range HB clearance about mid way ten metre line and 22 leftish of centre on their own side of halfway aided by some awful tackling. Somehow they managed to miss the conversion! -

Why is it that the Manawatū Standard has written a little match report, but our local media ... nothing? Even the HBRU couldn't be bothered informing us about this game, before or after it happened.

They only care about Napier Boys rugby ...

@Nepia LOL, you keep saying that and I've never seen any proof of that haha.
I can't help it if you've had your eyes closed.
IIRC I posted some links to HB Today articles that were Napier Boys focussed during the years Hastings Boys were winning. I'm obviously too lazy to search for them now.

I have been keeping an eye on Tui players playing club rugby, because I noticed some names not appearing on team sheets. I haven't been able to find where Imij Hawkins (Zarn and Bailyn's cousin) has gone. More disturbing is that I've seen the name of super talented Harmony Kautai on the team sheets of Poneke in Wellington. Poached or moved there to be noticed for SR Aupiki? Or will she return? The last team sheet she appeared on are from April, so I'm still a bit hopeful that she'll return to the Bay and the Tui.
I also hope that Teilah Ferguson doesn't do the opposite, like last year. Playing for Tech, then moving to Wellington for FPC. I really hope she stays this time and plays for the Tui again.
Also, the youth competition Amelia Pasikala was playing league in in Oz has finished. She's about to return home, but I'm not sure it's just for a holiday and family visit, or whether she'll play club rugby and FPC for us again. I really hope the latter! From all the reports and clips that I've seen, she's made a huge impression in league and there's a good chance she'll be snapped up by a NRLW team; if not this year, maybe next year.

@Stargazer Yeah, that's her. Apart from watching a lot of the Championship Final won by my ladies against Clive I had not seen any of the ladies rugby (the kick of times/venues not fitting in with my schedule) so was not aware of my favourite player's re-appearance.

In addition to the Magpies and Tui wtgs playing a preseason game tomorrow (as posted in the Magpies thread), the Central Hawke's Bay sub union also plays a preseason game against Wairarapa Bush for the Stu Smith Memorial Cup. Kick-off is at 2.00pm at Central Park, Waipukurau.
