I don't recognise many names in that line-up. Partially, that is because it's a new team which seems to have lost a lot of players who have left school, and partially because HBHS didn't post any line-ups last year, so I don't what were the younger players in 2022.
Kyan Lowe is Karl Lowe's eldest son; Daniel Toala is Danny Toala's younger brother; Monte Timu used to go to Lindisfarne and is a younger brother of Star Timu. Some other names are vaguely familiar.

I haven't been able to find the result of the Hastings Boys v St Kent's game.
There's a bit of news.

As posted in the general 2023 School Rugby thread, Napier Boys' will compete at the Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament, which takes place from 25 April to 7 May 2023 in Fukuoka, Japan.

St John's College 1st XV is going on an Austrialia tour in July 2023.
This will be the squad for that tour.
I wonder whether Harry Campbell is a younger brother of halfback Brad Campbell?
And another Penitito; that family keeps on producing players.

I haven't seen a squad list for Napier Boys', but their 1st XV captains have been named (a prop and a halfback):
From NBHS Facebook:
Congratulations to Ta$man Soanai-Oeti and Joel Russell for being named as Captain and Vice-Captain of the Napier Boys' 1st XV for the 2023 season.
Both boys are in their third season of 1st XV rugby and hold huge mana within the group. Ta$man and Joel were selected in the Hurricanes U18 in 2022. This experience and their commitment to the "Sky Blue' will see them as key players within the team this year. We look forward to seeing them grow and lead both on and off the field in 2023.

Harvey O'Rourke - wing (Yr 11 - 3)
Jacob Cotter - 1st five/fullback (Yr 12 - 2)
Angus Lovatt - fullback/wing (Yr 11 - 3)
So that's why CJ Mienie isn't in the HB Academy squad; he's still at school!
I don't remember all players from last year, but I really rate Soanai-Oeti, A. Prouting, Russell and CJ Mienie. G. Prouting, Stevenson, Thomas & Augustine have plenty of experience, too. There are quite a few young players in this team, so it's good to have some experienced players to lead them. I hope they go well in Japan. -
Shortly after half time in Japan and NBHS are up 26 - 07 (19-07 @ halftime) but are looking way too big, powerful and fast for their Keio High School opponents so expect the score to balloon out quite a lot as the game wears on, especially with the wind behind them. Having said that it looks like a bit of a first run out for the Napier Boys with things not quite clicking as well as they would like.

OMG, one going in favour of the visiting team about 40 metres out and fifteen to the right of the posts. It is easily converted into three points. 29 - 19, unsure how long to go as they seemed to play only about 25 minutes in the first half but I was not really paying all that close attention to exactly how long they played.
-
And there you go, a total of just 52 minutes of running time for the total match which ended at the above 29 - 19 scoreline. The Napier Boys certainly held their nerve and were only marched ten metres just the once after finally having the cheek to mouth off at one of the many baffling penalties awarded against them. Probably not a display that would be causing too many terrors in the Hamilton BHS camp but won't know for sure until we see Hamilton play a bit later on this afternoon.

@Stargazer said in Hawkes Bay Schoolboy Rugby:
@Bovidae I assume that has to do with the fact that they have to play again, tomorrow?
Yes, I'm sure it is due to player welfare. The SFs and final will be 30 min/half.
