AFL 2023

@mariner4life yeah, watching it you knew something bad would result. He was in massive pain lying on the ground.
Last few minutes of the 3rd and then the 4th, the Pies were all over them. A ‘famous’ victory….

Round 1: The lolz
Carlton and Richmond draw a shit game
Collingwood looked fucking good
Fuck you Brisbane you hope-giving pretenders, you are still weak as piss
I picked North to win, but both those teams suck
Melbourne yes, Bulldogs no
Ouchy Gold Coast, Sydney to warm @Kiwiwomble 's cold southern heart
GWS good start
Hawthorn have a long season ahead of them
Death, taxes, a Ross Lyon coaches side winning a dour shitfight -
@mariner4life doing a tipping comp at work for the first time...think i went 2-7...but was worth it for the swanies! buddy with 2 in 3 minutes....so they start double and triple marking him....so everyones else floods forward, gulden with one from 65 at full stride! paps with an outside of the foot banana off his wrong foot from 40m?!...beautiful

maybe Brisbane (but I wouldn't overreact).
it's not an overreaction when it's a continuation of previous problems. There is a core problem there and teams can just overwhelm us. our team defence and ability to halt momentum is still a serious weakness.
-
@mariner4life the pleasing thing for my Saints was to see some defensive pressure back. Thought we tackled well in the back half.
But kicking a score is going to be a massive problem this season especially with no Membrey or King in the lineup.
-
R2 and your tips are probably a shambles
Carlton beat Geelong, who are looking like the team everyone thought they were last year. Except Cameron, who nearly won the game by himself
The Lions and Melbourne completely reversed R1 form. Ignore the scoreline, if the lights don't go out the Lions win that by 40
Collingwood are the most impressive team so far
Huge alarm bells at the Bulldogs
And maybe at Freo too. North are 2-0!
Sydney smacking Hawthorn was the easiest call of the weekend. Hawks nailed on for the spoon
Essendon beat the Suns with a dominant 4th quarter
And to round it out the previously rubbish West Coast beat the previously impressive GWS. -
Lions have the Bulldogs at Marvel tonight
You would be pencilling in the 4 points for the Lions if you look at how the Dogs are travelling. But this has ambush written all over it. The media have found their guy very early, and thus the drums are beating for Bevos head. If he still has the dressing room i expect a massive backlash.
-
and there you go
If i was the Bulldogs i wouldn't be changing my thinking around where we are based on that. In a dogshit game that had the skill level of Cairns AFL reserves, they kicked 67 points.
And the Lions were awful. Daniher is a fucking spud. Hipwood is a spud. Charlie Cameron played terribly. Our forward line lost that game. Couldn't kick goals (even from simple set shots you absolute spuds) and applied zero pressure. Meaning the ball went inside 50 a lot, and came zipping straight back out.
Seriously the Lions are shit and quite frankly are not a contender. That forward line worries fucking no one. Fagan continues to prove he has no idea how to take the club forward. Write us off, we're fucking cooked.

stupid bulldogs

so, slightly interesting discovery. a few months ago out TV antenna went dud, maybe hit by lightning or wind pulled out a connection....either way, we havent got around to getting it fixed basically because we watch almost everything streamed and even if we want to watch something "live" we can normally stream that.....except i have discovered the AFL, even the free to air games, they have the pre and post match shows....but in between its 3 hours of border force

streaming partner is Kayo that's why
-
@mariner4life yeah, i assumed it was something like that, just thought the free to air games would be different

That, skill-wise, was a very ordinary round of football. I didn't watch a lot, but what i saw was very average. Extended highlights packages aren't pretty. Look at the scores, only three teams over a hundred, two teams won with scores in teh 60s
If you are doing a tipping comp, it's probably being won by someone who knows nothing about football.
There was obviously thursday's abortion
Collingwood winning was probably a given
Hawthorn tip over North
The Saints beat the Bombers
The Crows beat the Power
Fucking Gold Coast beat Geelong, who only kick 54 points
Melbourne flog SydneyAnyone who picked the majority of those did so with darts
Seriously, look at the fucking ladder. St Kilda are first, and Geelong are last. Is it fucking opposite day?
-
damn, 2 from 9....i did not get many right at all!...topped off with seeing the swans get a hiding, so annoyed we managed to get back within 6 but didn;t kick on

I did ok considering my knowledge of the sport is somewhat limited with a five from nine record thanks to Collingwood, Carlton, Saints, Demons and Freo all getting home. I must be one of those described above!

so i guess, just for a change, Ken Hinkley is the guy. The drums, the drums they are a beating.
Large numbers of Port fans have wanted him gone for ages, but he always seems to win enough games to keep his job, without ever looking like a real premiership team.
If at least one Lions forward isn't playing for the twos this week i will be banging the "Fagan out!!" drum hard (not for the first time)
