Need Mitch Jr. to stay there and the tail to stay there with him. Henry and Wags both quite capable.....hopefully....

@Bovidae I'm out of patience with Nicholls.

Mitch at 4, Phillips at 5.

If that doesn't help Henry score a 2nd innings ton, I don't know what will! 🙂

Nice to see Mitchell get a 100 on his home ground
    Hagley Oval.

Wow, I’m genuinely shocked that Martin Guptill who had what I’ve always thought of as a short and unsuccessful test career is sixth !!

It was long and unsuccessful. He was just persisted with because he was good at shorter forms. His average his actually worse than it looks and padded against weaker teams.

Guppy should have played 5 or 6 in tests.

I am happy to be wrong about him. I did not think he would be this successful.

Good effort that considering where we were at one stage of the innings.
Great effort from Mitchell,Henry,Wags and Latham.

Henry will get promoted ahead of Southee at this rate

the Sri Lankan tail won’t wag again, I feel we’ll roll them nice and cheap this time.

Great effort to get a first innings lead, but not really a big enough one to put us ahead of the game. Unless we absolutely skittle them we'll have a tricky chase, be interesting to see how the pitch holds up on days 4 and 5. Sri Lanka ahead purely because they batted first.
