Assistant coach Vili Malaitai had to play halfback and fullback Tom Iosefo had to leave his brother's wedding to play for the below-strength hosts.</span></span></p>

<p>Watched Hastings RS v MAC today.</p>

<p>Hastings RS won 33-8, halftime was only 6-3.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Geoff Cridge played the whole game at number eight and scored a try. Mason Emerson played fullback in the first half. Was switched to the left wing in the second half and scored an excellent try taking a long cutout pass on halfway and at pace beat the fullback with an outside swerve to score behind the posts.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Hastings RS had the three tallest forwards on the park - Cridge, Sanaila Waqa, and Ben Parsons (blindside flanker). An odd tactic from Hastings RS was to call short lineouts on the majority of their throws and leave Parsons in and put Cridge and Waqa in the backs. The lock that started with Waqa only came up to his shoulders. The Hastings scrum went a lot better in the second half when Parsons partnered Waqa at lock.</p>

<p>Is Guildford already playing for Tech? He wasn't last weekend because his registration hadn't been finalised; not sure about this weekend. Could boost the Texans in the final games of the season.</p> -
<p>I think next Sat (16th) could be the last round where the Magpies are available for their clubs as the first pre-season match for the Mitre 10 Cup squad is v Manawatu on the 30th.</p>

<p>The Magpies will be will be withdrawn from club rugby after next week's final round. </p> -
<p>Was periously close to Whitmore Park yesterday (had to make a delivery to Ashridge Road) and headed back to Wellington via Georges Drive. Sadly time pressures made it impossible to detour and call in just for a few minutes. The scoreline looks disappointing but I presume it was a try and a penalty to the home side against 13 hotly disputed penalty goals to the visitors!</p>
