Bracewell taken out of the attack. I don't love it - if he doesn't come back from the other end, I think it's a weak move. There is turn and bounce; you have to attack.

I thought Southee would be more aggressive ...

Too many 17 run overs and we are out of the game

I know that - but the ball is turning and bouncing. Surely a second over is worth a crack ... if they are agrressive, it creates chances.

Break the partnership and bring him back

We should've played Boult for Young!!! 🙂

Next hour settles this match. Either we get these two or they're close enough to the target that it's over as a contest.

Based on run rates per bowler, the captain has to bowl himself into the ground at one end, while swapping the other three at the other end.

We just don't quite have enough runs to play with. That collapse is costing us the game - the dodgy Kane caught behind and then the Bracewell moment.

    Can Bracewell redeem himself?

Henry out injured. In Dazza and Braces we must trust.

I guess if Kane doesn't bowl today, he's likely never bowling again at the top level.

Does Bracewell look like getting anyone out?

I haven't seen any of this test - what was "dodgy" about the Kane decision?

It was probably out, but at the same time snicko is not super reliable. There were bars before the ball got to the bat, and only slightly higher bars when it went past. On field decision was not out, and they felt that the faint bars from snicko were enough to overturn that decision, which I wasn't convinced with.

I'm also really annoyed that Kane's innings ended being caught down the leg side to a part timer, which is no doubt clouding my judgement.

He has had a couple of decent balls that have troubled the batsmen (mostly a more watchful Stokes), but largely Root is aggressively feasting on pies. Between that and lunch hopefully he can run another partner out after eating too much.

Depends if Smithy has left anything for anyone else

We're just not getting the rub of the green - edges falling short, or going over slips.

Such is life, but damn it's annoying.

Well, at least we’ll go down as plucky losers instead of the hiding that was on the cards a couple of days back.

Has anyone got anymore straws for me to clutch ?

For a short time we were often the plucky winners...
