Nope, haven't seen Lazenby's turn, but I thought it was going under a critical reevaluation of late?
It was unfairly pilloried. Had arguably the best Bond song, great score, the scene where the evil skier gets sucked into the snow-plough was uber-cool, had Diana Rigg and had a great, if unconventional, ending. Sadly it had George Lazenby who, while not being a great actor, wasn't too bad. He could have become a great Bond but behaved like a complete knobhead by all accounts and pissed off everyone with his attitude.
Lacking in humour and being a no charisma plank are different things
I loved Dalton. He was close to the books, did his own stunts and played it straight after it had become a bit of a parody after Rog. One more Bond and he would have absolutely nailed the interpretation of Bond.
Maybe Dalton was before his time. The portayal of Connery and Moore was quite different. He reminds me of Bond in the Daniel Craig mold

Midway (1976)
- PC gone mad! What the fuck was the point of that ridiculous side-plot: Heston's son having gotten addicted to rooting the sideways jap puss-puss? Madness.
- Offended. Zero appreciation of the black-american contribution to the 1942 US Navy. Just... racist.
- Tit-watch: zero. I mean... ? Make an effort. It was one of the most important historic events in some (very limited fucking nerds) peoples list of historic events. Throw in some titties, yeah?
Pretty sure there was some shit there at the end that I got offended by, but can't remember if it was my left or right side which got tingled.
Fuck it... for use of actual historic footage, I'm going to give this a 4 Zero-hitting-the-sea..s out of 5-yankee-mother-fucker-hitting-the-sea..s.
Some historic footage of sweet sweet titties would have been appreciated but.it's really good, and the reason i was so nervous to watch the latest version (well, that and Pearl Harbour).

@Nepia ive seen them all (have the box set)...and you might be right, enough mad "bond" stuff (laser watch)....but not too much (invisible car)
It’s Pierce Brosnans best Bond yes……

@MN5 weird when you think about it, he has one of the best and also some of the worst
Goldeneye wouldn’t be one of the best in my opinion.
Brosnan did ok but probably my least favourite Bond overall.
But then others did brilliant ones and shit ones too. Apart from Lazenby, his only one was outstanding

From memory, his wife fucked up the negotiations for the second film demanding too much. A shame, as he was a good Bond and that was a cracking film.

Always ranked in my top five Bonds.

the more i think about it...craig is one of my least fav...casino royal was good but i always struggled with we're supposed to see the start of his "00" career...and then he is some super spy that plays by his own rules...he was also like 40 when he gets if licence to kill...did he just have a 20 year military career before that?
I do hope we see them take a similar approach going forward with each new bond, sign up for 3-4 movies and tell little trilogies, so clusters of movies that stand alone

Plus Lazenby was an absolute gun in the fighting scenes.
Wasn't he former Aus special forces or something?
Yeah a combat instructor apparently. He threw fists on screen more convincingly than any of them ( well Craig comes close but much of that is down to modern editing )
Celebrities like ol' George must thank their lucky stars that they existed before the internet, so fact checking of their bullshit is exponentially more difficult.

I'd say it's difficult to separate the Bonds from their movies. Craig gets top billing for making the only Bond movie worth watching. He also gets to be pilloried for making some subsequent stinkers too.
Brosnan is second because GoldenEye was an awesome game.

Well he did bullshit his way into the audition in the first place so it definitely got him places.

Moore has said he never really liked the fight scenes in the Bond films. That said, he grew up in a tough part of London and could clearly look after himself if he had to by all accounts. There's a collaborated story about Lee Marvin (ex-USM hard man) picking a fight with Rog and getting his arse handed back to him

Midway (2019)
- Okay, not bad, almost
- I actually kinda liked that they didn't stay too close to the 1976 version, but just dropped in some subtle nods to it instead
- I also understand the laying down of context... the whole "Midway" thing not actually starting until 90 minutes in
- I do NOT understand, how these people do not understand that tits existed during this conflict. What the actual fuck? Several hot beatches making token appearances... tit-watch: zero. Just... flabbergasted. No excuse.
- This was a bit more like the movie I expected 1976 to be - a little bit more focus on individuals, a little bit more "Americans are good, the Japs were bad", etc, etc.
- BUT - overall, I was pleasantly surprised that both were relatively respectful to both seppos/japs.
- I strongly suspect - commercial reasons. Even the hints at the japs being absolute fluffybunnies in China (I know... reasons) - was probably rather edited in the Jap release.
- At the end there... it's like they just couldn't help themselves. There was a slight tint of "America, rah rah. Our guys were awesome. Apple-Pie is good. Y'all suck. Fuck yeah. Murica. yeah."
- Although the continued refusal to accept and acknowledge the Trans-community's contribution to winning the Battle of Midway... offensive.
Overall - higher than I expected. 3.5 super-effective-AA-guns out of 5 the-flight-board-don't-match-the-conversation.

@Kruse a surprisingly accurate war movie, I really enjoyed it. When I saw in the trailer the guy jumping into the cockpit of an aircraft on the deck, and downing an enemy aircraft I thought 'I ain't watching this bullshit'. Permanently scarred by the U-boat one. However that was a real event, unlike everything in the uboat movie, which I refuse to name
