Stokes feels like the key now. He can take the game away from us in an hour if he gets going and has a real talismanic quality.

Ish's biggest issue is his consistency (and occasionally fielding), but he could still be good for a few years yet. His batting seems to have kicked on.

I was looking at Ish's test batting average earlier. 22.78 with 4 x 50. In comparison, Bracewell has a test average of 20.36.

Anyway back to your regular channel...

A caveat to that , though. I'm really quite unimpressed with Ish's batting in bouncy or NZ conditions. Including watching him at FC level. But ever since his debut back in Bangladesh about a decade ago, I've been quite impressed with his batting (more accurately, his scoring options) v spin in Asia.

Bracewell taken out of the attack. I don't love it - if he doesn't come back from the other end, I think it's a weak move. There is turn and bounce; you have to attack.

I thought Southee would be more aggressive ...

Need to get through this partnership. Anyone got any good reserves jinxes or more bad takes to help the Craps out?

Think we've used up the biggest table turner in the much-berated Bracewell running out their star batter without facing a ball, but there must be other options for us to try.

Too many 17 run overs and we are out of the game

I know that - but the ball is turning and bouncing. Surely a second over is worth a crack ... if they are agrressive, it creates chances.

Stokes owes us about a million easy caught behinds.

England's last 3 average 40 between them - hopefully they're no better than that today given their age.

Not sure whether I'd rather now get Root (their best bat) or Stokes (their talisman).

Break the partnership and bring him back

@nzzp Yeah, I know - but, Stokes just finds a fucking way to win.

Both worry me - I'll take either and preferably both! 🙂

Next hour settles this match. Either we get these two or they're close enough to the target that it's over as a contest.

Based on run rates per bowler, the captain has to bowl himself into the ground at one end, while swapping the other three at the other end.

We just don't quite have enough runs to play with. That collapse is costing us the game - the dodgy Kane caught behind and then the Bracewell moment.

Henry out injured. In Dazza and Braces we must trust.
