Rennie Sacked, Eddie In!
-
.What probably got Rennie sacked was the 38% win rate. .All they were looking at was essentially the bottom line. His end of year tour wasn't that bad as they were unlucky to loose narrowly to Ireland and France. The series loss to England was also very close. Saw an article which is for subcribers which says he is on the All Blacks radar, wonder what will be his next move.

They went from a coach with a 38% win rate who just lost to Italy and has never coached at a World Cup to a coach with much more international success including success at 4 different World Cups.
I could see Wallabies making a real run at the RWC this year given their side of the draw and Eddie's intimate knowledge of England and Wales.

He will still be fresh to the players so they will be better

no one knows what Rennie would have achieved next year with a fit squad. So saying Eddie "will be better" is another bullshit excuse created to make this seem like an amazing hire.
If Eddie is down to 4th choice in a bunch of positions he aint' winning shit either
-
@Dan54 He will have a point to prove. I remember he got very fired up at the end of the England series when a spectator called him a traitor. If he gets early success at our expense I can see us bringing in Wayne Smith or even Razor in some role. Still not clear if Rennie has some role in the All Blacks camp or not, his recent record against Eddie is not that shabbie,

Fucken RA say hold my beer to NZR!
Is there a longer coaching contract out there at the moment? Outstanding to sign a coach who the world has figured out is two seasons tops to a contract like that... when you already have a coach!
My only fear now is just what lengths Robinson is going to go to, to devise the reinstatement of his incompetence crown.
They figure two seasons would be enough to win Bledisloe and Bill. I think Wallabies will get a spike in their performance in that time, hopefully not at our expense
Dead cat bounce?
Yes another good term for it.

Actually when you look Wallabies actually had a 35.7% record in 2022 so better than Englnds.
Rennie won't get a role with ABs, as well as his record , he I think is on a leave clause that would prevent him doing another job before WC.
Will almost guarante Smith won't be back he has made it so clear his days are over, and can't see any role for Razor (even if his ego did allow the thought)
Eddie maybe fired up, but I don't think having a fired up coach helps anyone. -

Oh I'd agree with that. But he's signed to a 5 year contract isn't he? Or have I misread?
Yep That is right but am thinking the goal will be to win the Bledisloe straight away ( while NZ Rugby is a bit vulnerable). Don’t think they can win this WC but they should get an improvement in their world rankings ( can’t get any worse can it?). Should be able to beat the BILs at home.
Also 4.5M deal - I thought RA were broke?

I read it was the Italy match...

My question has been answered in this article. It shows the RFU in a completely different light to RA.
The RFU on Monday defended the decision not to impose any restrictions on Jones, a practice that is often commonplace in blue chip companies when a senior employee is paid off.
“When the RFU ended Eddie’s role as England head coach, having considered both the legal and moral perspectives, it was decided it would be unreasonable to restrict Eddie in seeking alternative employment,” said an RFU spokesperson.
-
bro this cockstain from the ARU's whole gig is "owning the kiwis" and aussie "supporters" fucking love it.
He can strut around talking about how he "got Eddie AND screwed over a kiwi" what a fucking deadset legend and idiotic fluffybunnies from Randwick will pull him off for it.
Good luck to them. Rugby in NZ needs Australia to be strong. I hope it works
Of course, that would make Eddie a magician considering RA have been chasing this dragon for nigh on 14 years and it's probably getting worse not better no matter how many sacrifices are put on the coaching altar.

And when I read apparently Rennie was sacked on Zoom by Marinos from South Africa it kind of makes gutless bastards (rightfully or wrongfully) spring to mind!

Mate, I tell ya, Rugby Australia has made a deadset shocker of a decision by appointing Eddie Jones as head coach.
I'm telling ya, this is just what the Wallabies don't need, mate. A coach who can come in and shake things up, but for the worse. I'm sure Jones will be able to whip the boys into shape and turn them into a bunch of robots, following his every command and losing their individuality, mate. And let's not forget about Jones' tactical nous, I mean, what's the use of having a coach who only focuses on statistics and not the human aspect of the game, mate.
In short, Rugby Australia's decision to appoint Eddie Jones as head coach is a deadset disaster. Anyone who disagrees is just a flaming galah, they just don't know what they're talking about. It's time for Rugby Australia to rack off bouncer, and get a coach that understands the game and the players, mate.

Will be interesting to watch ,
Cant help but feel it will either go pretty well or shithouse , but not in between ,
Based on the players either warming to his style or fucking hating it
-
@mariner4life I don't think this is true. I think Aussies appreciated it when they were calling out NZRU on some bullshit but I don't think many Aussies are impressed by how Rennie has been treated - regardless of whether Jones should have been appointed or not.
Plenty of comments on SMH etc calling it out as bullshit.
