@gt12 interracial marriage? is that not already allowed?
No federal law, it came from a key supreme court decision 'Loving vs Virginia' and has never been guaranteed by a subsequent law.
Edit: By the way, I don't think Thomas threatened Loving vs Virginia, he did threaten gay marriage and also access to contraception as these come from ‘substantive due process' arguments.
Edit edit: Interracial marriage comes from another precedent, see discussion here.

@gt12 wow, i had no idea, so easy to be ignorant (me that is)
Looks like the law will go through during the lame duck session.
Seems that it "would not prevent states from passing laws banning those marriages" which is surprising (it only recognizes existing marriages and those carried out in other states).

@Tim i have to say i cant see in the tweet where it explains how the protests have lead to the increase, on the surface it seems to just show there has been an increase since then. Without the "why" is seems like a correlation v causation situations
-
@Kiwiwomble Reduction in policing in black areas, IIRC. OP has a couple of links that attempt to determine causality in the thread, I think.

You'd have to have a heart of stone not to laugh...

It’s become a laughing stock, it’s just annoying though that we aren’t that far behind.

TBF, Biden probably confused his garage for his office and his Corvette for the safe,

Biden seems deeply unpopular on Twitter. I know that's not real life but Obama and Trump always garnered massive amounts of likes, whereas Biden is actually getting ratio'd with some of his tweets. I wonder what the general feeling among Americans is on him at the moment.

Opinion probably based on party lines as usual

Yeah, the Republican's are replying with the usual comments, but he's getting basically no support from the left. Very odd President.
-
@No-Quarter I think the Dems know they have to get rid of him to allow for an alternative. I believe the behind the scene persons are allowing this to happen. Funny that this is just coming up when the Rep house takes control. On a platter to investigate and rightly to soil him for the next 2 years.

I'm not into the minutiae of the US political scene (which may not come as much of a surprise), but I would be interested to hear some non-partisan views on this (OK and some partisan views too) :
