NZ v Pakistan 2022/23

@ACT-Crusader amazing series. Laxman got 281 from memory ?
@Damo not sure how accurate that is or if it’s a generalisation but now you mention it the great close in fielders I can remember ( Ponting, M Waugh, R Taylor, Chris Harris, Jonty Rhodes off the top of my head ) were batsmen.
Or they were fatties like Gatting, Tubby Taylor, Boon, Greg Ritchie etc.
Outfielders with strong arms were usually fast bowlers, Craig McDermott is probably the most memorable for me.
Back to todays action I hope there is time for a result. I hope it’s a good one too ! C’mon KW !!!!

It is just a generalisation but like most generalisations it is true enough.
Southee is about the only fast bowler I can remember ever fielding at slip/Gully.

Jimmy Anderson, Alderman, Botham.
Garner in the gully.
Hadlee and Lance Cairns used to share fully fjr NZ in early 80s. Hadlee also fielded slip to spinners (bit of a weird permutation).

Alright, there are exceptions sure.
But if you look at the typical slips line up, they tend to be disproportionately top and middle order batsmen.
It does make sense that would be the case, as batsmen need to have fast reflexes, good concentration and excellent hand eye co-ordination.

How many do we need? How many sessions do we need to take wickets?
I think at least another 200 runs, maybe 230 to be safe an 3.5 sessions. The difficulty is whether we can score that fast and that much.
If we.can score at that rate then that raises the issue of how easy it might be for Pakistan to chase it down.

Hahaha.
2 dreadful wasted reviews earlier and then they didn't take one that was much closer - turned out to be out.
The DRS system has certainly proved that the players don't have a clue most of the time

Alex Wharf doesn't seem to either.
How many of his decisions against us have been overturned?

There have been some howlers that's for sure! Maybe umpires should just be replaced with AI robots.

Anyway Nicholls should be due a career saving knock by now

Bracewell I expect that as he can not read the spinners at all. -

Bracewell I expect that as he can not read the spinners at all.I figured it couldn't have been in NZ.
He's embarrassing himself. We are at the point that I think Blundell needs to farm the strike against the spinners.
