    Fuck Christmas music.

I’m thrashing some live Sabbath for myself, the girl and the neighbours while I’m doing my chores.

The boys were in form this night, ESPECIALLY Bill on drums.

I love that one of the Jefferson Airplane hippies tried to make an east coast yacht rock album in the early 80s.

I never understood how these guys never made it bigger…….

Actually I do when I think about it. The vocals and lyrics are a bit substandard.

Can’t fault the musicianship though including a pre Metallica Robert Trujillo on Bass. Great stuff.

Absolute killer slow funk track from the duo who eventually became Mr Mister. They were the go to substitutes if Michael McDonald wasn’t available (they did the chorus vocals on Margarita by Marc Jordan). They were also two of the worst coke heads on the scene, who nevertheless obtained some moral clarity at a Motley Crue session and refused to record, because the song was “about the devil and fucked up stuff like that”.

I have a bit of a love hate relationship with Pink Floyd.

You know how there’s that band that is famous for one song but you get annoyed cos their lesser known ones are so much better ? Pink Floyd are that multiplied by about 10…..I could pretty much go my entire life and be happy to never hear Money, Another brick in the wall, Wish you were here, Have a Cigar, learning to fly, a momentary lapse of reason…….

But then other well known ones like Us and Them, Comfortably Numb, Brain Damage, Eclipse etc are still great.

…..and then there’s this, such a masterpiece, captures them all at their best and in my opinion proves that Gilmour shits all over Waters as the star and driving force of the band. His guitar work is him at his best.

Very big of Waters to actually play Bass on this though AND do a good job !

@MN5 It's worth watching the Live At Pompeii documentary film if you haven't seen it. I've stood in the middle of that amphitheatre, which was just as empty that day.

Perhaps could be said of any band. Their popular songs get insufferable after a while. I love the wall and especially the lyrics. While not highlighting Gilmore brilliance on the guitar I love Nobody's home, Mother, Run line Hell, and Young Lust (great Guitar solo). This was my first intro to Pink Floyd.

Will listen to Echo after I work on my schedule.

Did your one radio station up north only own the cassette single of Rock Me Amadeus?

Vienna Calling made the top 10 in the rest of NZ.

I blame the Sound for playing Floyd ALL THE FUCKEN TIME.

But fair point. Some bands more than others.

I invested a lot of time into The Wall during Covid times. Decision at the end was that if you remove all the songs after Run Like Hell, it really is a masterpiece. It just goes on too long and the end tracks add nothing other than a bit of indulgence.

You have to credit both Gilmour & Waters really, as although I completely agree with you regarding Gilmour as the star, Waters did do most of the writing.

Certainly agee with you re Money. It's not even in the best 5 songs on DSOTM.
