Indeed, Jar Jar is a pretty crap character but no way is he as bad as people would have you think. George Lucas to his credit took on board the feedback and he was pretty much never seen again.
Really? George Lucas was still pretty visible even after that terrible film. But he did admit it was bad...

I give Lucas a bit of latitude for TPM. It had been a long break and no one really knew what the reaction or audience was meant to be. He tried to cover all bases a bit much and the pressure on merchandising at the time was huge. Toys and video games were the big earner so you had to sacrifice story for kid friendly characters and set pieces that translated to gaming (eg pod racing).
Made the whole thing a bit of a mess by trying to please everybody. -

Made the whole thing a bit of a mess by trying to please everybody.I don't give him latitude for it, it's a giant turd. But Lucas is still a god amongst men for creating Star Wars and there's kids who grew up watching that era of Star Wars. That's their Star Wars.
Just as there's a whole bunch of kids who got into Star Wars via The Force Awakens. People forget how popular TFA was because of the hatred around TLJ. But it was huge, I saw it twice, once in the first week and once about a month later and the cinema was full both times.
I think it's good different generations can like "their" Star Wars although on a personal level I can't understand people liking the prequels.
Will have to do my all Star Wars (movies and TV) ranking sometime over the break - my top 2 and bottom 4 are already confirmed so just need to sort out the middle.

I probably get that perspective of generations because my boy was prime age for the prequels. I had already introduced him to the originals which he really liked but TPM opened up a whole new world of lego presents etc. He didn't care about shit dialogue or posts just the spacecraft and pods etc. The duel of the fates is probably his favourite SW sequence (and I have to admit, one of the best lightsaber fights in all the movies)

Watched Bad Batch S2 E3 last night and thought it was pretty good in introducing some old faces…

COVID finally made it into the KW household so spent quite a bit of time watching tv over the weekend...got around to Bad Batch...its fine....can take or leave, would like to know what theyre going for in a bigger sense, thought there was going to be more about Omega...why is she female?....or more about them trying to liberate clones...there is some but its very sporadic

The Omega question seems to be that we are expected to accept simply that she was an experiment and nothing more.
Where is seems to be heading is a slow realisation by the Batch that they need to stop just surviving and start actively doing good/fighting the Empire. How that ties in with the other canon and timeframes and where it ends up I have no clue. By the time of Andor and Rebels they don't seem to exist (or at least aren't mentioned).
I think the show is best to stay as a side series with no real connections to main storylines. It can introduce new places and characters and provide more depth but little more. -
I love Gungi…very glad to see he made it, wonder if any of the other padawans we met in clone wars made it
