Those sports stars you just can't warm to

Veering with you: In NSW you're not required to get a rego inspection for 5 years for a new car.

But I've seen some fucking shockers driving around QLD, where they didn't have inspections for years due to remoteness.

When I lived in Sydney my van was registered in WA, no checks at all just pay your rego.

Henry Paul , no particular reason why . Playing for the poms didn't help though nor did playing league over there instead of the Nrl . -

I hate most Auckland players from that era

But Fox and Whetton are the ones I hate the most.
-

I remember Brendon Laney was interviewed once and he mentioned how "unexperienced" some of his teammates were. He could run pretty quick for a fatboy though and did a good job for the Scots.

Mike Brewer ? I've heard untold stories about what a fuckwit that guy is.

Mates of a mate got on the piss at the Sevens and abused Henry Paul when he came over and played for England, really feral comments while he was warming up on the sideline. Apparently they all saw him on Courtney Place later that night and wanted to buy him a drink but he told them to fuck off as they were the "fluffybunnies who had abused him from the sidelines"
-

Ok, I've got a real genuine one for this thread.

Sai'a Fainga. I think it's because of the size of his arse. I've even met him once and he's a pretty good guy. But I still love see him getting his arse handed to him on the rugby field. Absolutely no idea why.

Am surprised at some of the people on this list!

Kudos to NTA for not only saying King Richie, but also backing it up with his facts. That took some balls on this forum, fair play to you.
-

I was initially outraged, but it was hard to argue with most of his points. McCaw's inability to acknowledge the opposition in some post-match speeches - particularly, it seems, big matches - has always grated me a bit.
-

Indeed. Although the warbling of the Aus media post the RWC final I thought was a touch ironic. The same people who called him a grub then had a strong go at him as he didn't acknowledge them after the game.

From reading his book, I don't think he likes Australians much.
-

One of my mates can't stand McCaw

His reason.... he was invited to Richies 21st, a lot of the attendees were poor students. Richie is on $250k from the NZRFU.

would he have been on 250k in the same season he debuted for the ABs?

edit - I guess it depends when his birthday was I suppose?
-

Absolutely not being smug in saying this but it is a small sample size - at least with the ABs. Never got this impression, but am impressed NTA was able to watch most of those 11 post matches, including the English loss which wasn't even available on TV in Australia.

To Richie's credit he never made excuses in the post match either - Brisbane 2011 and Cardiff being obvious examples where there was an obvious explanation but (as an AB fan) he frustratingly just said "we weren't good enough".

He was pretty lavish in his praise of the Boks during 08-09 which are the only games he lost as captain that weren't pretty easily won with a better AB performance. -

Yeah or he didn't want to big note himself. I don't care who you are at 21 if you are putting on free piss for a sizable party you are a legend and probably a bit of a knob.
