@Crucial oh yeah the RAAF base. Silly me.
It's where the C130s are isn't it?
And the C-17s.
What is weird tho is the base is just on the western edge of that hexagon. There is fuck all else in the middle of it. Except Israel Folau's church I think....

@Crucial looking at the coverage map I see that I actually live in the little hexagon saying "Expanding in 2023". How the FUCK does that work?
That makes literally no sense.
I looked at Starlink for the farm, but we're well served by numerous towers.

They're having specials on hardware right now, so it would be $450 for the gear + $139/month for coverage.
However, I would also need to buy other hardware to integrate it into my existing setup e.g. Ethernet adapter to plug into my mesh system because why would I buy Stalink's mesh system?
TBH looking at some of the stats, I can see why it would be popular in rural areas, but at this point I might get fibre connected just before Starlink becomes available
Yeah you do need the ethernet adaptor to connect to other kit but that's not expensive. Mine will be on a rural property that only has power to the shed at present but I will connect my mesh to widen the coverage as far as I can around the property.

Actually, isn't there a military base somewhere in that area?
No, it's west of that area.

See above. Makes sense if there is a major Air Force base (possibly a comms base) in that hex.
Out of interest what do you get as wireless speeds from the towers?

On to another topic - we bought The Boy a Macbook Pro this year as his Macbook Air 2015 model wasn't keeping up with the Video Editing / Special Effects he needed for study.
So what the fuck do I do with an old Macbook Air?
Use it for porn. Keeps your other kit clen.

I have an old 2015 Macbook pro I use for downloading the odd stuff I can't get on the streamers and to run my Plex.
There's also a few steam games that only run on old OS so I use it for that on occasion too (Sim City, Civ 4).

There's nothing in that hex. What's interesting is no other areas are greyed out where there are bases, such as headquarters air command which is in that snippet @NTA posted. I'd hazard a guess that the actual website is wrong.
Out of interest what do you get as wireless speeds from the towers?
About 60Mbps during peak usage.

Sell it? I've seen them go for $300

I just checked the trade value at the Apple Store and it's $50, so guess asking for even $200 is OK. It isn't exactly in pristine shape because Teenage Boy.

Or I guess make it useful by running Pfsense and wireshark in a linux virtualbox?

Ten years ago I would have gone for that out of pure curiosity. These days I can't be arsed.

some are based on sounds we make though without conscious effort/thinking about it (no, not "boobies") so some are more made up than others...
