cripple fight between 8 and 9
Scotland: choking on cripples in 2022...
They had to fluke a win sometimes after the previous three embarrassments
-
Was there, so watching it back
We played very well with the exception of the balls up right at the halftime whistle
We should have scored there, and then the match would have been won
But there were already signs of the Australian back play
And they were carving us up with ease
Superb half from our inside centre on his debut
Jack Morgan excellent
AWJ and Faletau at their Lions best
-
The quality of ball and service to North confirmed to me that he’s done as a centre
Hawkins and Tompkins going forward for me
WalesOnline rated Hawkins 6 and North 7
What match were they watching?
-
51 mins and patience and phase play puts Dyer in
Great pass from Anscombe
34-13 up
27 mins to go
14 man AustraliaShould have been on our way to 50 points
-
Australian substitutions on, and already changed the shape of the match
Anscombe off
Pivotal
Up to that point Pivac has done everything right
Players stuffed up one opportunityThen he puts Priestland on
Massive mistake
Costello should have gone on
-
The young kid in at the corner
Australia raised the pace demonstrably and immediately rewarded
Cuthbert poor defence
Last match for Wales
Donaldson had a great debut
Lolesio was excellent as the fulcrum for everything Australia did from this point on
-
64 mins
And we blow another goal line assaultKen Owens off
Elias onSamu awesome since he came on
Stupid pass from Priestland
Forward and obvious
Clumsy from Tipuric
DumbAbsolutely fantastic second try for Nawaqanitawase
Reserve hooker was massive in his 15 mins
-
71 mins
AWJ and Faletau substituted
Tipuric still in the binThree most experienced Welsh players/leaders off the pitch
Terrible coaching decision
That’s the moment that should seal Pivac’s fate
-
Great maul from Australia
Elias rightfully carded
Penalty Try correct callTom Wright almost hands the match back to Wales with a terrible drop off the kickoff
Massive defensive scrum from Australia
Tom Wright’s decision to run the ball back after a series of aerial ping pong was key
Let the ball do the work and carved us open
Reserve hooker in
Excellent Australian adventure rewarded
-
Clock goes red
We get the penalty for Australia sealing off
Shit kick from Priestland
Excellent phase play from Wales but Lonergan does superbly over the ball and seals the win
Thoroughly deserved
Possibly Gethin Jenkins and Neil Jenkins the only coaches to avoid the inevitable and long called for canning

@Catogrande wondered the same thing for many years. 🙄😁

If I was an Australian fan I would have been very pissed off with how this game was adjudicated. Pleased they won despite being up against "un-sympathetic" refereeing.
I was getting my dander up about the TMO intervening in open play against us, even having known the result. Especially when it is home broadcaster bullshit.
Scrums were a bit of a lottery as usual but generally we were getting outsmarted on Wales ball.
-
@NTA Haven't seen the game yet NTA, but how did the home broadcaster get the TMO to interfere. TMOs don't actually see the big screen or tv coverage, but have their own feed generally. More often than not when there a replay of some incident it's because the broadcaster has heard the TOM, so actually other way around. I always wonder how we get idea that a TMO watching muitple screens is only seemingly making decisions on what some producer/director has picked up.
-
@Dan54 nothing memorable in this game - I was speaking generally about home broadcasters.
Your point about the TMO is valid BUT that doesn't stop the OB director replaying stuff up on the big screen and getting the ref to check.
Happened to us several times on EOYT last year.
