Tonga v Uruguay

What an awesome sight: Tameifuna intercepting a pass and going for a run. He's faster than you would expect from someone of his size. Unfortunately, he was offside, so the ref had to blow his whistle. I'm sure he would have steamrolled the Uruguayan winger who was defending that part of the field.

Tonga playing with a lot more purpose direction than they started with last week and lead 21 - 05 after about twenty five minutes. Solomone Kata proving to be a bit of a handful for the Uruguay defenders with a decisive break leading to Vaea Fifita's first try for the 'Ikale Tahi as well as playing a part in the next one scored by Augustine Pulu. Looks to be a big score in the making if this keeps up.

Did Tameifuna just get sent to the bin and concede a penalty try?
Yes, referee ruled he entered from the side.

That's the half time score.
Good first half from Tonga.
No love lost between both teams, by the way. Lots of unnecessary pushing and shoving.
I understand enough of the commentary to hear that the commentator does a lot of explaining. He explained the whole eligibility rule change to clarify why former All Blacks were able to play for Tonga.
He also seemed to give a bit of a geography lesson about the Pacific and at the beginning of the game, he seemed to explain that the Sipi Tau is for Tonga, what the haka is for the All Blacks.

@Higgins The break for Tonga's first try was Tu'itavuki. Kata indeed playing a role in the second.
I'll take your word for it as I was enroute from the fridge getting a beer when the try was scored and I mistakenly thought it was Kata.
-
@Higgins You were right about Kata being involved in the first try. It was Tuitavuki who helped set up the second. They have swapped jerseys! Tuitavuki wears the 11 jersey (was named at 14) and Kata wears 14 (was named at 11).
Tuitavuki has in the mean time been replaced. He limped off.

Ugghh, Craig Evans is such a pedantic ref. Moala yellow carded. I think for side-entry (it may have been for offside), but it was really marginal.
Then there is a yellow carding of red No 8 for a marginal raising of a blue players leg whilst driving in a maul. Next thing we will see a yellow card for a simple tackle situation where a leg leaves the ground at this rate.

Full time: Tonga 43 - 19 Uruguay
Convincing win to Tonga. That's 3 wins from three games, this EOYT. What this shows is that Tonga is stronger than most other tier 3 countries. They will need to play higher ranked countries to get a proper preparation for the RWC.
