Definitely a Super Bowl hangover for the Rams and Bengals who both have losing records at 2-3.
The Bengals always looked like a team with one really good strength and a bunch of gaps that got hot at the right time. Rams on the other hand look a bit like a team that's lost it's fire now they've won a title. They'll probably come right as the season processes.
Breece Hall had his break out game today. First RB taken in the draft, and probably would have been a top 10 pick a decade ago but shows how much less the league values RBs now. Long time since the Herschel Walker trade. Anyway, 97 yards rushing, 100 yards receiving, 1 touchdown, plus twice stopped just short after dragging defenders about 10 yards. The Jets want to be a run first team so I can see him racking up massive total yardage this season.

Matt Rhule the first head coach to get sacked this season. Baker now on to 6 HCs in 5 years.
1-4 so probably coming, and the Panthers fan base are happy with the decision
Front office saddled them with a couple of dogshit QBs though. Darnold and then Mayfield. Just awful.

little under a third of the season done now
Eagles the only undefeated team
Bills now have the best offence and best defence in the league. Rumour has it htey have been on the phone to Carolina about trading for CMC as well.some unexpected good records
The Giants are one of the teams at 4-1
The Cowboys without their franchise QB are 4-1
The Vikings are 4-1at the other end
the defending champs at 2-3 and are joined by their Superbowl opponents
the Raiders and the Broncos stinkAt this stage the AFC championship game should be a belter.

oof
look, the Tua situation was a bad look. but that's on the Dolphins, not the game
but since then the "roughing the passer" rulings have been absurd. Effectively tackling the QB is now roughing. I thought the one on Brady was the worst i would see. And yet here we are, MNF, and a guy makes a regulation strip sack, actually HAS THE BALL and gets call for RTP. fucking ridiculous.
If a QB is allowed to break tackles and run, then you have to be able to tackle them
Dive at their knees? Drive them with your helmet? hit him late? throw the flag. Make a fucking sack while the dude is standing with the ball? play on

The 1990s are back as the NFC East is the best in the league again.

Injuries might mean they come back to the pack in coming weeks but this 49ers defense has had a seriously impressive start to the season.
If the offence can step it up they will be even tougher

Don't look now, but the Jets might be a team this year. Just beat the Packers comfortably enough that they pulled Rodgers late in the fourth. First non-playoff home loss for the Packers since 2020.
A couple of thoughts.
Rodgers is done. At least at Green Bay. He's no longer good enough to lift the team on his back. Either retirement or time for his late career mercenary phase. More on that in a moment.
The Jets run game is legit. They had a 60 yard drive to the seal the game running on every play. The Packers knew it was coming and couldn't stop it. They didn't punch it in for the TD but ahead 14 and with the chip shot field goal, eating the clock up was probably a better result anyway.
Zach Wilson has taken a step forward. He's still not ready to be a franchise QB but he's not a liability anymore. If the defence wants to stack the box and stop the run, he's good enough to take the opportunities that leaves in the secondary. There are a few destinations that would be intriguing for Rodgers. The dolphins and the 49ers are both a QB away from being legit contenders, but both claim to have faith in their rookies. Haven't looked at cap or trade resources so might be unworkable that way. The Colts would also become overnight contenders, although their wr corps isn't quite as strong so might not appeal as much.

Yeah it's all over the place this year. Certainly feels like the AFC is stronger and it's tempting to say that the AFC championship game will be tougher than the Superbowl, but people have made that prediction before (for both conferences) and at least one or two NFC teams come right by the end of the season.
I've discovered that one of the 'perks' of a London game is getting to choose your next week match up. So you can request a bye or any of the other teams on your schedule. Makes it even funnier than the Packers specifically choose the Jets for that match up and still got blown out.

If the Bills cannot win a Superbowl this year, then they may never win one
-
49ers trade with the Panthers for RB Christian McCaffrey
It's a big swing - if (big if) McCaffrey can stay healthy he's a perfect scheme fit.
I'm ok with it - NFC West division is very winnable - go all in.
It comes full circle - McCaffrey's dad Ed played for Kyle Shanahan's old man Mike the last time 49ers won the Super Bowl.

It's too tight a league to be confident. But they look very good... Before injuries and cold weather hits

It's probably too high a price in the long term but as you say, the NFC is wide open and they're one of the best defences in the league so if this pushes their offence over the edge it's pretty worthwhile. Going to be a tough off-season though, lots of free agents, bugger all draft picks and a tough cap situation.

@Cyclops win now though makes sense. You have to take a gamble don't you
Yeah I think one of the toughest things in the NFL is finding that balance between getting better now and getting better in the future, but this definitely feels like the right spot to gamble some future gains for right now.
