Very plausible
-
Ireland were just destined to play France in France.

Hopefully, Robbie Keane handles the ball in the last minute to cross the ball and Robbie Brady to score the winner.

Makes for headlines for next day of the 'We Wuz Robb-ed' 'Ireland Robs France', etc etc variety. -

How do you reckon the Scots feel? 4 of 5 home nations in the comp. 4 of 5 home nations in the 2nd round. Ouch.

-

Sorry buds, everyone thinks the Irish are British.

-
Didn't RoI play in the old Home Nations football champs? Maybe belated entry though IIRC?

Some good news finally today :)

Wales beat Northern Ireland 1-0 and head to a QF match against the winner of Hungary & Belgium on Friday.

First tournament in 58 years and we make the quarters.

Snore Saturday is complete and Hooroo is 1-2

Poland 1 - 1 Switzerland (Poland go through 5-4 on penalties)

Wales 1 - 0 Northen Ireland

Portugal 1- 0 Croatia

So QFs on the 'easy' side of the draw are:

Poland v Portugal on Thursday 30 June 2016

Wales v winner of Hungary v Belgium (played tonight) on Friday 01 Jul 2016

Another big night in the Cardiff Fan Zone coming up

Belgium have got their mojo back and look the team to beat on the top side of the draw. Hungary were actually very good and the 4-0 scoreline was not a true reflection of the game. The commentators made the point that Belgium has the most expensive squad at the Euros - averaging €15M per man. That's more than the value of the entire Hungarian squad. The best game of the comp so far.

Just to prove how strong the other side of the draw is, look at the graphic below. A good chance for Belgium or Wales to make the final.

Some dreary shit in this round. Portugal v Croatia was awful, Croatia created all the "chances" but rarely looked like scoring from them.

Wales were shit but won. The Poles and the Swiss was very dour.

Germany were pretty impressive though, and now looking like the team to beat.

The whole tournament has been very short of quality on the pitch.
-

Although we went unbeaten against Belgium in the qualifying group (1 win, 1 draw, no goals conceded) it's going to be a tough ask for us to turn them over on Friday.

They're peaking nicely and building a good momentum.

I'll still be in the Cardiff Fan Zone shouting my head off though :)

I see a Portugal v Belgium semi-final on the top side of the draw.

Germany did what they always do in tournament football, coast through to the business end.

If the teams in the bottom side of the draw stay injury and yellow card free (not sure when they get wiped out) then the winner will come from one of Germany, Italy, France or Spain IMHO.
-

Oh and Hooroo is now 4-2 :)

-

Masterclass from Italy. IMO the 2 best teams are Italy and Germany, it's a real pity they meet in the 1/4 finals.

Belgium will choke, they always do. France have defensive issues.

Wales, Portugal, Poland making up the numbers.

And we see, but I fancy Iceland in 30 minutes to give England a hurry-up.
-

Iceland - get in there!!! 1-1

-
Lol. Joe hart is no Buffon. 2-1 Iceland!
