Beervana right? I mean, if you made me choose between Rugby and Beer, I'd shoot you, but can udnerstand one weekend
Pretty easy decision for me, Beervana fucken rocked. Outstanding fun as always.
The Cake Tin woulda got about 5 thousand for that game in the shitty conditions if they were lucky.
I think the comments were more about allowing a scheduling clash. Agree that the Caketin is a shit venue for small draw games but it is better than Porirua for players and spectators alike.
Caketin is also a shit venue for Beervana IMO.
Back in the day it was in the town hall. Less beards. Added bonus of being able to pop in and out during working hours due to central location.
Back to the rugby and I ended up going to JC Stadium for the FPC game. Drove there and back. Had it been at the Caketin I could have caught the train and would have spent some money on a few beers plus some food to go with it. A shitty hotdog from a caravan didnât appeal.Yeah we went to Brewday at the TSB. That was a good spot but the cake tin works too. While youâre at Beervana why would you feel the need to pop out ? That cuts into beer time which makes no sense to me.
Workday. Beervana never used to have these ticketed sessions. A ticket at the door allowed entry for the whole day and used to run Thursday to Saturday.
Oh, and it was about trying the beer not consuming as much as possible.
You could do a lunchtime, go back to work for a meeting, go back for a couple more etc.Going back after a 13% stout might be hard work

It was but pacing yourself is an art and drinking imperials is a road to cutting yourself short.
I made that mistake at a beer fest in London one evening. Was going along at a good pace with a plan but decided to stop for a feed. Stupidly asked the crew at WildBeer to give me a full glass of their recommendation to have with the food. It turned out to be a killer and I could see ahead to a âhow do I get homeâ situation.
Tried a handful more and bailed while I could. -

we as fans have lost a lot of the magic of rugby in our over-analysis and demand for perfection.

went and watched the club lose their grand final on sat....but the day in the sun with $5 beers, $2 sausage sizzle and then the night back the the club room.....even if we did lose the game... was so much better than almost any win the AB's have had over the last few years
i remember screaming about this or that call by the ref during the game...dont remember mentioning the ref once afterwards, enjoy the good bits...forget the rest
all of this was happening at the same time as the ABs and Aussie games were on...no one watched, top level rugby is so far disconnected from grass roots it laughable

@muddyriver i know right, i know there are lots of things that need to be fix with rugby....but allowing those that like rugby enough to actually be involved in a club to watch has got to be a start

@canefan the only thing i'll add to that is i think they have made themselves more important at least partially because there is more and more outcry from people...like us....for things not being pulled up in the past, i think part of fixing things is for the fans to chill out and accept calls will generally go both ways

How about the players and coaches finding every little way possible to make the refs job a nightmare? Pushing the envelope continually and then crying that the refs are blowing the whistle too much is a bit rich.
You still need rules/laws to play the game and therefore someone has to keep both teams within those rules to keep things fair.
The refs don't commit fouls or act illegally, that's the players. Add in the coaches that get them to push the boundaries.I'm happy to continue calling for consistency and for as much accuracy as possible, also for refs to have a 'feel' for the game and allowing minor infringements to go uncalled if both sides are doing the same thing. Campo just wants rules to apply when it suits.

Raynals performance on Thursday was the current malaise the game faces writ large.

The conversion was immaterial to the result but indicative of how Raynal had lost complete control of proceedings.

That linked article barely hits the low bar of fact of a forum.
Itâs not just French ref thoughâŚ..the whole thing is a mess.
Youâre post was just âFrench refâ though and the âarticleâ linked to was so full of hyperbole and outdated comments it might just have been written by David Campese.
Had to laugh at how the writer completely tangled up their logic to support refs not being the centre of things by praising Gardner for taking control and not listening to anyone else.
