@JK The Top 4 has been held in PN for a while now. Much easier for me when it was in Rotorua.
The semis are live on Sky Sport 1
1:00 pm - Westlake BHS vs Napier BHS
2:35 pm - Hamilton BHS vs John McGlashan CollegeI hope the weather is good on Friday.
Awesome. Looking forward to watching

Result:
Blues Girls' Final (Blues Girls' Top 4 qualifier)
Auckland Girls' Grammar 27 - 15 Westlake GHSI watched some of that game and Westlake Girls' were leading 15 - 0 at half time. The second half was messy with AGGS collecting two yellow cards and a red, and Westlake one yellow. Couldn't see what for except that one yellow was for a high tackle.

@SouthernMann oh yeah, i do remember reading that article
wonder what Johnnies have been doing to connect with former top players as coaches and their kids to the school
-
@Kiwiwomble my guess, money. Also academically it is a very good school. So, if you have money you send your kids to the best school available.

Possibly a bit of luck as well. I'd say these kids have known each other for a long time both socially and in sports. Stands to reason that they, and their families, would look at the same school.

@Crucial The parents also need to come up with the tuition fees and or boarding fees. So another 10-16k depending on whether they are day boys or boarding.
I think all three families live in the area don't they? Probably did a bulk deal with some payment in kind.
Lots of schools would jump at the chance of a group of players that come with input and contacts from top coaches. These guys/families just all picked this one.
I don't see any difference to any established rugby school. I live near Silverstream and there are heaps of kids getting off the train every day that are certainly not of a demographic that can pay fees. The fee paying parents subsidise in order to bask in reflected glory as has always been the case. -
to be clear....im just jealous theyre not playing from OBHS

For the first time in many years both semis are 50/50 games and could go either way. I don't think there is a clear favourite amongst the 4 teams.
Obviously I am hoping Hamilton BHS do well but getting to the Top 4 with this team is an achievement in itself. The 2020 team, especially, and the 2021 team were much stronger but didn't get that opportunity. Unfortunately Ollie Mathis, the openside and co-captain is out injured, so that is a big loss.

Pretty impressive haka by the JMC team. Good to see something slightly different.
The young guy reffing this Top Four semi-final game, Jack Sargentina, has been only on the whistle four or five years or so, following in the footsteps of his old man who is a real good guy and who is known to visit the Wellington Football Club's Isherwood Lounge quite often. I was witness to one of the very first games Jack reffed when he had charge of an Axemen Under 85s game at Hataitai Park and he struck me as likely to go a long way in the game even then. -
