Very important win for the SpringSKOPPE. For the first time our backline look good. Willemse kicking has always been a worry. He should just offload or step or defend. Time for RasNaber to trust in the younger lot like Moody.

@Machpants I mean, the front row thing is Boks 101. Weird jab. Plenty to criticise there that actually happened.

I am wondering whether Nierasmus are reading posts online and have decided to trigger me with that selection.

    Where to start.

Wiese can fuck right off, and keep fucking off.

Mostert is not a blindside, how many times are we going to make the same mistake. I really like him as a lock, but we have Louw in the squad or we could bring Kwagga in like last year, when he did very well.

    No lock on the bench.

Willemse at 10 - hes been good at fullback for the boks and was brilliant at 12 for the stormers, but asking him to now switch position again and take goal kicks is a lot to ask. The coaches have stubbornly refused to look at any flyhalfs other than Jantjes and Pollard (even in the squad and training camps) and this what we are left with.

Fourie, wtaf. He was good for the stormers (as an openside), but he is 35 years old. Bit ok maybe we have an emergency? Well not really, we still have Grobbelaar that was in the squad last year and who was very good for the Bulls in the URC, or we could call in Acker van der Merwe. The stormers were down four hookers this season, they were calling up guys on loan to cover, you know what they didnt do? Play Fourie at hooker. Now all of sudden hes on the bench for the boks

I was critical of the team, but fair dues, it worked.

Wiese was good at what he does, he still wouldnt be my choice, but he was selected to do one job and did it well.

Mostert was brilliant - haven't seen the stats but pretty sure he topped the tackle count. Australia trued to exploit his lack of pace a couple times, his workrate more than made up for it.

Willemse played some great rugby, but not really much of a flyhalf game. His kicking at posts was poor, but forcing us to go for the corner had the benefit of giving the team more tactical focus.

Fourie did nothing when he came on, but it was nice to be able sub Kolisi (who was fantastic) late after he got a knock.

Moodie got a good try and one good tackle, but seemed a little lost otherwise. Will be better in future i guess, so yeah longt term its nice to have.

Kriel was fine, which is more than i was expecting.

Thought the young 1st 5 for the Boks was very good. Lolesio was poor.

Valentino and Koroibete have really high workrates. Thought both were good for the Aussies.

I must say the test itself was largely a cripple fight for the most part. Both teams looked clueless in attack and failed to take advantage of some decent ball.

Etzebeth will now be known as Crazy Eyes. Sheesh he had the red mist going….

@ACT-Crusader Wallabies didn't get decent ball once. Bok absolutely obliterated them at the breakdown.

There were a couple of periods where I thought the Wallaby forwards drove over the ball well and created quick ball. White was shocking though. He dithered big time behind the ruck.

    they looked clueless without Quade.

He's there, I can hear the booing

oh ha ha. I suspect the Oz public like him actually. Isn't he an Oz citizen now?

I'm trying to get NTA to bite after this comment in the ABs thread

@NTA said in All Blacks v Argentina II:

Your crowd booing is shit BTW - you can't pretend it's just about Quade any more

Ozzie crowd are booing a fuck load more than ABs crowd did, even taking out the saffas booing Dr robotnik

I thought the South African component of the Aussie crowd booed Nic White more

@ACT-Crusader thanks. Willemse struggled in his second year in 10 for the Stormers, moved to 15 and last year to 12. He has been outstanding with Libbok and Gelant this season. Was the same age group at Paul Roos as my son. Great to see him play to his potential. Now it's in 3 positions, but always favoured 10.

You’re right, there wasn’t any in this game. I just assume the niggly off the ball stuff is going to happen when playing this team. Maybe the very direct bok game snuffed that out this time. Also hooper wasn’t playing, which helps

@NTA nothing in it. A little push in the Fijians chest when Mapimpi gets up. I imagine the humiliation of being totally dominated by the bokke is what caused the over the top reaction by the Australians

Loads of penalties to Oz, then a piece of 'foul' play afterwards rules them all out and takes precedence.

Pickerill hates two things: rugby and Australians.

C'mon NTA you should be better than that! I actually thought the YC was for stopping the player after penalty, before he had gone 10, but regardless we all know fould play rightly or wrongly takes predecence, always has, if someone is offside and you smack him, that rules out offside.

I just disagree that we're calling that foul play to start with. BUT if we are:

A few minutes later, Kolisi whacks Wright in the chops, but that's play on because Wright's head was.... about as low as the other incident.

    Call both or call neither.

Mate I just didn't think you were a ref whinger, I personally didn't see how the Kolisi one was a penalty, and they were both a bit different, in one looked like a swinging arm that connected (YC), but I don't think I would of considered it a YC , and neither do I think O'keefe he seemed to be talked into it by Paul Williams.

Mapimpi was pretty fired up before that, he was yelling at Nick Wright to shut up.
I sure he mentioned to Korobite that when he tackles with his arms he not as effective or something with the sledge push in chest/neck. Thought O'Keefe had to YC him as he had warned everyone about starting push and shove.

@Dan54 watching incident again im a little annoyed - Mapimpi got yellow because of the fracas rather than the action, by exact same logic Valitini should have sat for coming in making it what it was

Actually in this case it's more the TMO.

If we're going to look for incidents in every collision with the benefit of video, the game is more fucked than I thought. Particularly when it's inconsistent across games.

How many times did someone clip someone's head or neck? I'm all for player safety but there comes a point where people switch off.

It didn't affect the outcome, but it is still extremely frustrating either live or on TV
