Last week I got roped in by one of the trainers at my gym to go in this challenge the trainer nights. He said it will be 3 different exercises/activities. I thought, "yeah, I'll give it a go". Saw about half a dozen names on the sheet so I signed up.

Turn up last Tuesday night and one of the trainers explains that its not a lift/run/row/etc off, but a circuit. Not a circuit of 3 but of 6 activities, and timed. DAMMMNNNNN. So I weighed in (80kgs)

So here was the circuit

1. 500m row
2. 20x Bodyweight bench press
3. 2km run
4. 30x Bodyweight deadlifts
5. 20x burpee into chin up
6. 30x own bodyweight squats

So how did I go:
• no probs there, 1:31
• I have never atempted to lift 80kgs bench press in my life, so I knew I was in for trouble here. Lift the bar and got out 4 and then rest it. Then lifted again and as I went for 2 the second was a struggle. So singles all the way from 7-20. Took some time and didn't bother checking (had a time keeper).
• I had expended some energy benching, so started slowly (12.5km/h) then after 3 mins went up to 14km/h for 1:30, then back down to 13km/h where I settled for about a 1km. then I did little bursts/rests at varied range. 8:34
• Have deadlift 80kgs before but not 30 times. Going great to 15,16,17 and then 18 started to lose shape. took 15sec break. then did it in 5rep intervals to 23. then in 3 rep intervals and the legs started to burn. then 1 to finish off.
• man if you ever want to huff and puff, these are great. so burpees under the pullup machine and as you jump for the burpee to a chin up, chin above the handles of course. Did 10 straight out and then had a 30sec rest and then pulled off another 10.
• own BW squats is something I do to start every workout so 30 of those wasn't an issue. A bench was used and your butt had to touch the bench. I'm 5'8 so no probs there with short pegs!

So final time was around 19/20 minutes and I was sweating and sucking in the big ones. Great work out. Watched a couple of the insane trainers doing it in under 14mins which is a hell of an effort.

mmmmmm I smell a TSF challenge coming on.... xzxcool

Shit that looks tough. I'm impressed that you actually finsihed it. xzxgood

I tried doing circuits like this when a thread about the 300 movie was posted a while back. I found it really hard and the weights weren't as heavy as you're doing in this. Though it did have 300 reps all up and no cardio.

I'm not even going to try and beat your time. xzxflag_of_truce

That looks tough as old boots. I think I'd take awhile doing the bench press, 20 reps of 98-99kg ( depending on the time of day ) would be an absolute bitch, I'd need a bit of rest between sets. Squats and deadlifts may take a couple of sets as well depending on how rooted I was from the previous activities....doing the chin ups fresh would be pretty easy but after all that ? even with the momentum of the burpee that would be hard....aw and I've got more fingers on one hand than the times I've actually rowed in my life....

Think I'm with Toddy on this one !

Regarding the 300 workout while they did a lot of training I suspect the actors had a bit of "help" of the steroid and digital image variety....

Not to mention its easier for stars to get fit for roles, they can do the six small meals a day/plenty of sleep/training schedule that is farkin hard for those of us in the real world to adhere to on a consistent basis.

Yep, they trained full time for a few months - meals/trainers/equipment all provided for them. And they got PAID to do it. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

My problem ( and I'm sure its similar for others here ) is sometimes I get too busy and forget to eat then cram as much as I can in one meal, that and the boys yells and upsets my sleep pattern.....aw and I'm not on roids either....

Fitting in the workouts is rarely a problem though its everything else that often doesn't fall into place...

Hey Toddy - I've tried that 300 workout and didn't get close. Its the pullups that get me. But one exercise that I love from that workout that I do pretty full on at least once a week are the Floor Wipers.

The '300' workout recommends 135lbs (about 60kgs), which took some time to work up to, but now I'm doing a set of 20 (ie 40 movements) with 70kgs. Its a hell of an exercise and if you like supersets try doing it with a set of decline medicine ball pushups without any rest between. KILLER
