@Bovidae Marshall is very good, huge impact.

We need him. Misa and Cooper haven't been sighted yet. Anae Ah-Sue played well apart from some lineout wobbles.

It would be great if WR gave us an injury update on some of the other squad players, apart from the long-term absentees.

Mosese Dawai gets a Try this time!

Enjoyed that. Sitting here watching with wife and she mentioned how often DMac was in game, so she was watching. He is certainly back to his energiser bunny stuff!

Except for a lot of mistakes he made.

Maybe they had two guys in the bin plus another red carded to get down to that weight?

Not a bad game at all. Steelers ran out of steam and the strength of the Mooloo bench came to the fore.

Roigard had a stormer. Two games in a row he has really shone. Not a bad little 8-9 combo there for CM.

The back 5 (4-8) for Waikato won on points against their counterparts. Thought Sotutu played well and looked really active.

Dawai was dangerous on almost every touch

Watching this way, way behind live.

    Now 36 mins into firsthalf

And have decided that Coombes-Fabling is the new George Bridge.

And mean that as a compliment.

Oh he made a few mistakes mate, just was talking about how busy he was. I like seeing players involved in the game, and at times the best way to not make many is not too do too much. Wasn't suggesting he was looking like top player , just that he was back to energiser bunny type player.

Yep he's not bad, I mentioned somewhere he put me in mind of a Ben Smith type player, and I reckon Bridge when going well always gave me that impression, so perhaps we both se similarities mate. I really liked his game particularly first half.

That's DMac through and through though. You will get bad with the good simply because he tries things and gets involved a lot.
The things he was doing good were really good. I wish BB and RM could put the ball in front of a steaming deep runner like he does. His general passing game is really sharp and accurate.
Big mistake from CM to take Roigard off last night. Once ENS got injured the threats they offered decreased and Roigard was the best option to work with what was left.
Mind you the line out meltdowns were the biggest killer.

I've been wanting to see LCF at fullback, but while he looks dangerous running the ball from deep his tactical kicking isn't great.

I thought he played there quite a bit? Didn't he often slot in at fullback for the Landers this year?

I meant for Waikato. He was on the wing against HB but moved to fullback with Cook-Savage's injury. Even last year Filipo played Tongia at fullback ahead of LCF.

Great point Crucial, remember once an article on how many tackles one Richie McCaw had missed in a few games, but when you saw how he was attempting some real difficult tackles you could see why he missed some. DMac tends to be same, tries so much some will not come off.
One of my dilikes of using stats etc to judge players, but that's beside point.

Counties have already exceeded my expectations. Beating a solid Otago team and running Waikato and Hawkes Bay close. I hope they can make the Quarter Finals. Awesome that they are promoting local players and coaches. Plenty of talent comes out of the region and the odd one moves to the region. Got to work on the lineouts!!!
