@Stockcar86 @Stockcar86 You guys might have a number in the HB B Team or, more likely, the HB Samoan Team.

Not unexpected, but the Tui lost today; by a bigger margin than it should have been (in terms of history between the teams).

Defence is a big work-on, line-out throwing, too. Some players don't look fit.
Otago really using the width of the field well and their kicking game was really good. The Tui's defence didn't adapt.
Otago also has the advantage of some "stars" in their squad that we simply don't have.
Nevertheless, Otago had several players in the bin, playing with 13 for some time, and the Tui should have taken advantage of the space on the field. They didn't.

Several newbies making their FPC debut for the Tui today. Also a lot of the other starters would have been reserves in previous years, but that happens when players keep leaving. And a 4:4 split on the bench. Injuries?

Harmony Kautai was playing out of position and I prefer her on the wing. Amelia Pasikal, I prefer her as a starter in the midfield. She had great impact from the bench.

The young new halfback, Kahlia Awa, who scored a try on debut, looks promising. We need a new talented halfback, because Emma Jensen is well into her 40s and not sure how long she still wants to play. She's also not as good anymore as she used to be. Funny to hear she's Awa's teacher at Hastings Girls'. Totally irrelevant, but Awa is Cooper Flanders' girlfriend.

Our best was Gemma Woods. She just keeps going, year after year. Her experience, but also her determination during the game, is a great example for the young ones. Great engine.

Final point: the player who took out Nina Pineaha in the line-out should have received a red card. Pineaha landed on her neck/head.

    Full time: Tui 22 - 44 Otago

North Harbour away, next week. Hopefully Kath Brown will be available for that game.

This looks like a really good team! Lots of players from the 2019 Top 4 winning Hastings Boys' team & some of the best from Napier Boys' that I remember. I haven't seen some of them play since their schooldays, so I can't wait to see how they go. Or maybe I should see, "read" how they go, because I'm not sure we get to see any of the games. I hope sideline live will livestream some of these rep games!

A few players have changed position since leaving school. Not only Cooper Flanders is now definitely a 7, instead of an 8, but they've also changed Nick Ennor from a lock into a prop! Must be a big lump of a prop!

Good 32 - 5 win from the Tui, today. Centre Amelia Pasikala is a seriously good player. Very strong and powerful. I bet she'd also do well as a loosie.

Just a reminder that the HB Bs (or whatever name they are going under this season) are taking on Wanganui over at Park Island's Tremain Field on Saturday - kick off at 2.30pm. Sadly that's the same time the A team are dealing to Waikato up in Hamilton but I know where I am going to be.

@Higgins Thanks for that. Where did you find/hear this info? I've been looking for it.

It would be great if the HBRU had a page or pages on their website about representative rugby and a schedule of their games. Don't see them on the app either. In the past, you could find them on the HB Referees website, but they now refer to the app.

Edit: I assume you mean the team that used to be known under the name of the Hawke's Bay Saracens? I think they now just call them the Hawke's Bay Development team.

Tui line-up v Northland. The time of 2.05pm in the picture is wrong; kick-off time is 4.35pm. The idiots from NZR have scheduled our women's team's FPC game at the same time as the Magpies' game!

@Stargazer Think Sky TV would have the biggest say what time the games are to be played

@Higgins I haven't been able to find them. Only the Central HB Representative team's line-up for their game against Horowhenua-Kapiti in Levin.

@Stargazer Looks like the top of this page sums up the HBRFU information releasing attitude to a tee or at least in this instance

I am not sure what the final score was but something like Wanganui 50 - 27 HB Saracens would be close.

Embarrassingly for all concerned there were no ballboys and no scoreboard or time clock operating (even though they were there sitting waiting for the on switch to be flicked), nor were any team sheets handed out at the gate. Furthermore there was a curtainraiser between Hawkes Bay Under 19 and Taranaki Under 19 that seemed to take everyone by surprise as all those I spoke to were not aware of it taking place before they arrived at the ground. No idea of the score but Taramaki took a scrum right on full time from a very easy kickable penalty so that would indicate they were probably at least four points behind.

To sum it all up maybe the HBRFU also were unaware of both the games taking place given the absence of anything you would normally expect to see? It might have been games played at the amateur level but that does not mean there has to be an amateur effort put into staging the events.
