Ousmane Dieng is the 11th pick in the draft for the NY Knicks.

    And then traded to OKC.

The other Frenchman from the Breakers Hugo Besson was drafted by the Pacers with the last pick in Rd 2 (58th overall).

well, fuck, what is the point in supporting some teams?

I know i had it good for a long time, but the Spurs are now tanking and rebuilding and it's shit

Dejounte Murray traded to the Hawks for a shit player and future draft picks. Absolutely no point watching them this season. Zero.

    couple of other interesting stories

Apparently James Harden is not taking up his player option, but will sign a cheaper deal so the Sixers can build the roster.

Patty Mills declined his Nets option and will enter free agency. Must have loved his week or so up here. Mills to Taipans confirmed.

probably better in the long run than being on the treadmill as a fringe playoff team.

i get that, and this is the only way for them to really move up. But when you are apparently offloading a couple more players, and you're basically staring down the barrel of 20 wins, it's a bit shit.

@mariner4life it is crap but that’s the cycle when you try to make a run with what you had and it doesn’t work out. The good thing for the Spurs (and most other teams) that are in that situation is that they will have draft picks and control their own destiny.

The Nets on the other hand are in a massive pile if KD opts out. They gave up years of draft picks for that (stupid) Harden trade. The Rockets are laughing big time.

The Nets time in the spotlight hasn't lasted long.

Franchise star Kevin Durant has requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Durant made the trade request directly to Nets owner Joe Tsai on Thursday, sources told ESPN.

Their best bet is to trade both KD and Kyrie for as many young up and comers as possible. As has been stated earlier they are stuffed for the draft for a few years. U wouldn't blame Marks for swinging for the fences. But this is the risk of mortgaging your long-term future for a couple of superstars with loyalty issues

The challenging thing in all of this is having signed that extension last year - 4 year $189m - the Nets will want at least one household name and others to make it somewhat worthwhile.

I’m hoping it doesn’t get to this, but there could be another player v team stand-off as the team waits for the right trade - which again won’t be a straightforward one you would think with that contract.

I am no expert on the whys and wherefores of the draft but what would the situation be if the Nets identified someone (for example a graduating/ed college student who thought he would enter the business world and then had second thoughts and wanted to become a professional player shortly after the draft had concluded) that they really wanted on their roster but had no draft picks. Would that player be within his rights to not declare for the draft and then be signed up as a freelance uncontracted player by the Nets the moment the draft was over?

@Higgins in that scenario, the short answer is possibly. Players can go undrafted and then get picked up by a team - probably play in their G league team (the feeder team for the NBA side) for a period before making the full squad.

In that scenario the player has probably declared for the draft and just not been picked up.

The best player in recent times to have gone that course is Fred Vanfleet. He’a been an All-Star and won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors.

KD wants the Suns or Heat, but Marks has to get the best deal for the Nets.

With a four year contract, he'll have to play for them.

    Fuck him too.

I wonder about the Pelicans here - send Zion and some pics (do they have them?).

Thoughts on what the Nets will look to do?

I reckon to the Suns for Ayton + other pieces (Bridges?) is pretty likely.

Could see KD and Book working well together like Steph and KD did at Golden State.

Book has signed a super max, Joker has signed a super max (biggest ever!), Ja signs a 5 year max too.

In saying all this, after KDs max extension last year and if he’s traded, then some of these contracts might mean jack…

Mills signs 2 year deal with Nets.

    Good for him and Ben.

Brunson signs 4 year $104m deal with the Knicks. That’s overs in my view, but good on Rick’s son!

    Knicks need something else though

Free agency is off and running. The Jazz send Gobert to Minny for a package of bit players and Pat Bev plus 4 first round draft picks. I wonder what they plan for Mitchell
