Interview with South Canterbury's captain (article doesn't include team line-up):

Morning guys, just letting you know it is not exactly normal HB weather today. Just got back from hanging out the washing and almost needed to wear mittins to ward off the frostbite. Things are looking up a bit with the temperature rocketing out to almost 8.5 degrees but sadly little prospect of any relief from the sun that is steadfastly refusing to sneak out from behind quite thick silver grey clouds which the light southerly is not having much effect on blowing away.
I definitely won't be wearing shorts to the match this afternoon! Fingers crossed that it might warm up a bit as most or my warm woolies are still in Wellington. -
@ACT-Crusader Possibly, but even they will be feeling it a bit at the moment. Fingers crossed that it does warm up to the mid teens this afternoon as it can't be fun playing in English like winter conditions. Just a crying shame I did not think about packing my hipflask when I came up home two months ago (for a two week stay, or so I thought at the time!) as it will be a necessity by the time the second half kicks off some time around 5.30pm.

These sorts of games should be played away , I really don’t see the point in playing amateur teams at home ..Not even Hawkes Bay supporters give a hoot
Not a bad effort from blokes that will be back at work tomorrow morning -
That’s a brilliant passage of play from an amateur team .deserved a try showing they are a very well coached team
-
Big difference in the quality of starting halfback compared to the reserve halfback for South Canterbury

@KiwiMurph Hawkes Bay 38 -15 score hugely flattering to the home team
