Palmy Boys celebrate before the final whistle. 🤣

With better decision-making, Hastings could have won it.

For completeness, the enitrely predictable annihilation of St John's in the CNI:

    St Paul's 46 - 5 St John's

By the way, Palmy won because of their penalties. Hastings scored 2 tries against Palmy's 1. Unfortunately, not more than a losing bonus point as a reward.

    @Stargazer

Did anyone pick up on the side entry from the ruck on the final play? Counter ruck caused the player to stumble, ball jarred lose and we know the rest of the story. All in all, some mild referee decisions that costed the game. Napier next week, hopefully they get up for that.

@howsit123 Yep, the officiating wasn't good in both games, but with a one point loss and so many of those calls close to Palmy's try line, it's fair to say that that officating is a big factor in Hastings' loss.

Looking forward to the local derby next week. Napier will go into that game as favourites, but it's a Hastings home game, so anything can happen.

A surprising and good win from Lindisfarne, today. They lead the entire game, but had to defend hard during the final 15 minutes. Their 10 played very well (he scored the first try and converted both Lindisfarne tries). One of their loosies stood out, too, but I couldn't see whether it was a 6 or an 8 on his back.

    FT: Lindisfarne 14 - 10 Whanganui Collegiate

2022 First edition of THE local derbies of local derbies.
Yes, I'm hoping for a second edition later in the season (Hurricanes Final), as I think only Palmy Boys can throw a spanner in the works. I have no hope for a third (Super 8 Final) as Hamilton Boys will probably be in it again.

BUT, this is no doubt the game of the weekend:

    Saturday, 18 June 2022
    Hastings Boys' v Napier Boys'

    2nd XV: 10.30am
    1st XV: 12.00pm

Livestream of the 1st XV match:

There's also a CNI game. Our St John's is probably going to be pulverised by the Hamilton college with the same name.

    St John's (Hastings) v St John's (Hamilton) - 11.00am - livestream: https://sideline.live/play/17102

Unsurprisingly, our St John's is being destroyed by their St John's at the moment.

Is there a particular reason why Hastings Boys' never do a haka before their games?

First try goes to Hastings. I think the commentator said it was scored by their fullback. Ofa something; he missed the conversion.

I hate having no team sheet.

Try to Napier via their line-out maul. Converted by halfback Corey Berkett.

    12 - 7 Hastings

Hastings' kicker misses a relatively easy kick at goal.

Edit: apparently, he didn't miss. They've changed the score on screen.

    15 - 7 Hastings

Midfielder Tali Ioasa scores for Hastings. The commentator says he has a twin in the team, the openside flanker.

    Conversion missed.

    20 - 7
