@KiwiMurph yeah fair criticism. I'll cop that, they exceeded themselves in that game.

But you are snorting shard if you think the second best Aus side beating the, by far, worst NZ side means we suddenly have a sustainable competition.

And yeah - if I'm wrong I'll be happy. All I want is a proper professional rugby comp to watch. I love rugby and I know you fluffybunnies get sick of my shit but at least I know enough to moan. Reality is, most Aussies don't even know what Rugby is.

I'd like to go to the game, but I'll probably be on the couch, recovering after too many minutes at hooker for both grades on Saturday.

Hopefully survive the 2nd Grade match in order to run on for First Grade in what would be my 100th game at the club.

    Only taken 15 years...

Lost Game 99 in Second Grade 36-32 after the fullback - not realising it was full time - chipped ahead and they conceded a try. Played 65 of 70 minutes.

Won Game 100 in First Grade 68-24 and played the whole thing BUT it was uncontested scrums. Thank fuck. I missed a dropgoal conversion that would have been my first points in about 10 years 🤣

Copped a facepalm in 2s early on which took a while to come good.

Other than that, I'm alright. Off to ref womens 7s this morning over in Killara.

Tahs their own worst enemies at times - when down in that corner with 2 opposition flankers missing, get the fucking ball out of the scrum and use the extra space. As it was, the Blues tight five had clearly practiced a lot together and were better all night. Tahs have a real THP issue at the moment.

I'm not sure putting Hanigan in there helped the scrum TBH. Sure, Holz is a kid and was getting snapped, but we didn't have the same stability we did most of the year. Losing Porecki early didn't help.

Last penalty to level it up: why? Go for the corner, use your superior lineout, and try to come away with 5. Also uses up more time and the whole golden point thing is the last thing you need heading into finals.

The Blues are clearly doing good things in terms of culture and building depth. There were a LOT of errors - particularly the kicking game - but winning ugly is a good sign. Much better at the ruck as Gordon said post-game.

The Tahs played fairly well but it only coalesced in a short period after half time with the two tries. After that they fell away and just weren't accurate enough in the rest of the game.

Ultimately it changed nothing about the finals makeup at that point, the Ponies having lost 🤣 but now we face the prospect of any Aussie teams left being knocked out in the first week.

Rebels need to do the Force a favour and win today by a lot.

I saw his yellow. I thought there was another one. I must have misread the visuals on the screen.

Choat was first, both for head high tackles.

Ah cool, I saw the ref admonishing Choat but the highlights package didn't show him walking off.

    Thanks guys. 👍🏽

@Kirwan both looked pretty soft to me, the Choat one the attackers knee was almost on the ground, the Akira one looked like a scrag of the collar (although highlights didnt replay his one)

@KiwiMurph Team high count. He was one of my M.O.M. votes for that and that he was pretty much error free in an understandably messy kind of game.

Just watching replay now. I thought the Akira one was super marginal head high - Choat a clear arm to the forehead, but Akira's was tough

just went full GAGR without the arrows. You can see him reach across and grab Blue 18 jersey. He rides him to the ground. It's high, but I don't think it was a head high. Marginal penalty for me

you can see him mid turn here

Still, it's in the books now. Remarkable effort by Lay to win a penalty at the scrum - shows the relative power of Romano and Godohue, compared to Darry I reckon

Choat was first, both for head high tackles.

One of them was direct yellow.
The other was just a penalty but they were on a warning for repeated offences.

just catching up with the second half now.

The first Blues try - Akira a really strong carry, and well finished by Suafoa. He looks a physical specimen.

But before that Zarn threw a monster 30 m pass - just an absolute bullet. He's some player
