AFL 2022

lol at GWS, and the Western Bulldogs
North and West Coast are lucky there is no relegation
Richmond are cooked
Hawthorn v Sydney was a really good game for a half. Then it got really ugly for the Hawks, and Sydney showed they are definite contenders. Freo beating Carlton was a bit of a statement too.

@mariner4life Swans were behind by a point with ten minutes to go in the 4th. And won by 40. Never seen anything like it.

it was only a matter of time before the inside-50 count started to show on the score board. And then it just rained goals.

why does the AFL hate Friday night?
Last week we got the Eagles reserve grade v the faded Tigers
This week we get battlers the Dogs and Port, and then Freo hosting North.
Both of these games should have been buried in the Twilight spots.
Speaking of the Eagles, they head to Brisbane this weekend, and will be asking guys at the airport if they want a run, as the WA Covid rules are smashing them.
-
Prestia and Vlastuin ruled out. Year keeps getting better.

And despite that, a good win against the toothless hordes.

Shocking performance today. As bad as it gets.
How good were Gold Coast though? Getting the win over the Swans in Sydney. I watched the Suns live against the Saints and they are a pretty good side. Good defensive pressure and no how to get the ball moving. That Touk Miller is class and thEn add guys like Fiorini, Swallow, Casboult and they have some very good pieces.
-
@ACT-Crusader the Suns have what they need. They need to keep them, and I get a sneaky suspicion they need a better coach
Lions won as expected. I didn't pay much attention to it.
Poor weekend of football so far (the Suns excepted)

There is this fella currently sitting on the sidelines, knows a thing or two about winning a game of footy….. come on down Alastair Clarkson

Worst weekend of footy all year.
The Suns are the only fucking highlight, otherwise completely to script with no good games
North score 24 fucking points
GWS score 35 fucking points, at home
West Coast score 30
St Kilda at 55 not much better really. The Top 3 have obscene percentages

Qld had a good couple of weeks invading the SCG...

@mariner4life looks like we're back to being shit in sydney....we should come back to south melbourne
-
2022 claims its first coach, probably 2 years too late
Leon Cameron is out at GWS. Wasn't to be offered an extension, so he quit. Will coach this weekend
Yes, got them to a GF (where they got pumped) and they had a run of being around the top of the table. And yes, they have lost players back to Melbourne.
But they have underperformed with what is still a good list, and this absolutely had to happen.
-
@mariner4life two prelims and one GF in 3 of the last 4 years - that’s not bad.
I don’t buy too much into the whole Ferrari talk, sure they had some really talented players, but I don’t think it was so far ahead of several other teams.
But definitely time for fresh ideas and new coach(es)

agree totally. Especially now. But they had some very nice pieces there and always seemed less than the sum of their parts
Doesn't help that their talisman can't stay on the field.

The Suns for the 2nd weekend in a row with the big upset.
Some concerning scores, with the WA teams unable to crack 40, the Bombers and North unable to crack 50, and the Pies only getting 51
The Saints with a big 3rd term to beat the Cats was good too.

We looked terrible in the first half and probably should’ve been down more. But we got a roll on in pretty quick time in the third, started to kick straight and never looked back. We tend to lose those sort of games.

Feels like the gap between good teams and bad teams is wider than it's been in a long time. West Coast and North are genuinely horrible, and Adelaide, Essendon and GWS are all surprisingly shithouse.
At the moment it's Melbourne ahead of Brisbane and then a gap to the rest. Freo and Carlton look decent but I'm not sure you can really trust either of them. You could make a case for Richmond, Geelong, Sydney and St Kilda but they are all so hot and cold. Then you've got the Gold Coast, Port and the Bulldogs who may or may not make a run.
There is a feeling that they are all competing for the minor placings though. The Dees look unstoppable.

agree with all of that. Dees have the perfect blend on every line at the moment, and they are big, so can handle robust footy every week.
Lions have good forwards, pretty good defenders, and a pretty handy midfield. But i feel like in a big final Melbourne will beat us up.
Some of the teams at the bottom are just atrocious.
