have to say, it was a bit of a failure...and like they weren't even trying

as well as no advertising and probably picking the wrong city, there was next to no entertainment, no food trucks or anything outside the ground, no merch stalls (i would have grabbed myself a cap or scarf or hell a hoodie as it got chilly), some teams (aussie ones) had ANZAC jerseys others didn't....it was just a bit of a balls up honestly

    @Machpants Interesting article.

The following statement makes me doubt that the Force will be able to field a team this week either:

around twenty of their squad coming down with COVID and the remaining players deemed close contacts

How is that still a thing, people you live with aren't even close contacts anymore as long as they keep testing negative

@KiwiMurph Looked 100% a red card. Wonder if this is why they ruled otherwise:

"The Foul Play Review Committee deemed that the significant involvement of other players contributed to the incident which produced mitigating factors."

I wonder if it was based on first contact of landing. I think an argument could be made first contact was landing on the shoulder not the head.

After initial contact he lifted and drove, with others joining the tackle. Possible that the judiciary thought the players teammate contributed to the tip, but unclear.

IMO clear and stupid red. I also thought the tip on Paisami was a red - only difference in the two tackles was Paisami stuck his arm out to protect his head/neck and Cane didn't.

Edit: misunderstood your post ignore me.

Anything beyond horizontal is unnecessary and should be immediately heading towards a red IMO.

it was all day a red, and that judicial finding does absolutely nothing but muddy the waters, and make the entire process a murky joke that pisses everyone off.

Deadset rugby just does not help itself does it?

    wait. what?

How on earth is this even a decent possibility? A team from a competition played exclusively in Australasia/Pacific (ish) made up of players exclusively from NZ is going to develop a global brand? Especially in a niche minority sport like rugby?

The ABs one i can kind of understand. Kind of.

This gobbelty gook makes no sense. The fuck am i missing?

'The Hurricanes said one of Y11 Sport & Media's main aims was to develop the franchise’s intellectual property and focus on global commercial rights outside of New Zealand and Australia.'

This bit shows a bit of promise in that they may take Mr. Holland's intellectual property and deposit it in their Ospreys investment. Incidentally how can an investment company possibly contribute to developing a rugby outfits intellectual property?

With Ospreys currently running in 11th out of 16 in the United Championship they seem to have a fair bit of work on their hands to turn them into a powerhouse organisation.

@Higgins Maybe they're going to patent the random number generator he uses to select the team?

Maybe this was really a long term thing, given we dont even have 'Hurricanes' in the Southern Hemisphere, surely they were always planning on appealing to the NH market!
